There are an amazing amount of lipsticks out there, so, why just stick to those pinks and nudes? With the 90s making a comeback, we now have atypical lipstick shades that stand out and give any outfit or makeup look an edge. Our favourite bloggers and trendy hipster celebrities are rocking the bright blues and dark noirs and we think they look fabulous! Revamp your lipstick collection and try something new and exciting!
Black, Like my Soul
Black lipstick isn’t just for the goths. The best way to wear the black lipstick is to have barely there makeup, with a touch of mascara on the eyes. This black shade by L.A Girl is as fierce as your favourite sexy red shade, so make sure to rock it!
Skip the pastel pink and go for the lilac instead. This soft colour is feminine and yet a far cry from the usual pastel shades that are out there. This one by Deborah Milano is enriched with vitamin C, A and E giving your lips all the pampering it needs.
We don’t need 50 shades, just one
If nude shades are your thing, try this liquid lipstick by Lime Crime that has grey tint. It has also got a velvet finish which is so on trend right now! On instagram, we’ve seen Priyanka Chopra wearing this sort of shade a couple of times and we are totally for it!
If you want some frost on your pout then you’ve got to try Manic Panic’s metallic white lipstick. You’ll have to layer it on a few times for a stronger pigmentation and coverage, or use it as a top coat to add a bit of iridescence to your usual lipstick.
Poison Ivy anyone?
We agree, this shade is a bit out there, but you can absolutely pull this shade off! This one by Nicka K, applies like a regular lipstick but dries to a soft matte finish.
Give your usual pink an upgrade by delving into this gorgeous pale rose gold liquid lip cream that has the wow factor you need. We love this one by NYX in the shade Crystalized Metal, but if we’re being honest, all the liquid lip creams in this collection are so lust worthy.
If you love unicorns and all things glittery then holographic lip glosses are going to be your favourite thing. L’Oreal Paris’ lip gloss in ‘gloss me I’m gorgeous’ is a purple shimmery shade that gives you all the shiny disco vibes.
While wearing blue lipstick to work might be a bit much, it’s definitely a game changer when it comes to after work drinks. Beat the Monday blues with MAC’s frosty pale blue shade called Jean Genie that will surely start conversations figuratively and literally.
Shine bright like a Diamond
While only a few might have the time to carefully do glitter lips with actual glitter, the rest of us will have to stick to high pigmented lipsticks with flecks of glitter. Colorbar has five shades of these Diamond Shine lipsticks, but we like “Precious Coral” as it can be used daily or for any festive occasion.
Safe but not sorry
Not everyone is bold enough to go full metallic or experiment with unusual colours, which is why these lovely soft metallic shades by L.A Girl are perfect. We like this wine shade called ‘treasure’ - it’ll go with all those embroidered sarees you plan on wearing for the fesitve season.
