How To Wear Pantone-Approved Ultra Violet Without Looking Like A Unicorn!

Don’t let the bold hue of this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year 2018, ‘Ultra Violet’ fool you! The shade that Pantone describes as “dramatically provocative and thoughtful”, is a tad bit tricky to style but definitely wearable. After seeing the colour on the Gucci SS18 runway and Balenciaga’s recent collection, we’re sure this colour will soon flood our Instagram feeds and our wardrobes. But before you start making investments, here are 4 ways to wear Ultra Violet in 2018 without looking like a unicorn (or a Power Ranger!)

1. Accessorise with neutral tones

Trust Kangana to embrace the colour of the year already! She gave her outfit a chic twist by pairing the Ultra Violet dress with a pastel overcoat, accessories and black pumps. To keep her dress from looking too overwhelming, she also accentuated it with a narrow waist belt. Accessorising with neutral tones is a cue we’ll take from the queen!

2. Incorporate it as an accessory

The easiest way to incorporate the Pantone colour into your outfit is by using it as an accent. Think bags, boots, scarves – anything that sprinkles the colour on your look subtly. It’s a foolproof way to rock the Pantone Colour of the Year without looking gaudy!

3. Werk it in your makeup

If you’re not ready to start wearing purple in terms of clothing just yet, add a splash of it with a statement lipstick. Rihanna already showed us that this shade of Ultra Violet can be easily worked this season! You can also experiment with nail paints, eyeshadows – the options are plenty for a makeup lover!

4. Go all out!

So you’re sure you want to go all out with the colour? Perfect. Because Ultra Violet can make quite a sartorial statement at weddings. We like how Sonam has balanced her look by using different shades of the colour and experimented with textures. Minimal accessorising keeps her from looking OTT and yet, has a bold vibe.
