Here’s How To Actually Get Rid Of Acne Right Before The Shaadi!

All the stress of planning the wedding has probably left you sleep deprived and annoyed. When wedding planning takes precedence over self pampering, it tends to show up on your skin, brides-to-be. And it’s worse if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin that’s easily irritated. Fret not, ladies, we’ve got your back. Here are some tips and tricks to help you get blemish free skin before your wedding!

1. Skip alcohol-based products

Alcohol strips your skin of the natural oils and irritates it quite a bit. Stick to completely alcohol-free products even if you have oily skin. Converse to what is usually believed, alcohol doesn’t help oily skin, but in fact, irritates it more forcing it to produce more sebum.

2. Stick to the basics

Cleanse, tone, moisturise. Skip all the extras including exfoliation, and give your skin some rest. You’ve probably already done the multiple facials and face clean-ups as part of your bridal beauty preps, so, now is the time to give it a break. Listen to your skin and know what it needs.

3. Aloe vera for healing

It is excellent for cuts, scratches, burns and wounds of all kinds. It hydrates and nourishes the skin while helping it regenerate the wounded parts. It is excellent as a mask or if massaged into the skin as a gel. It will work wonders in calming irritated skin and giving your skin a plump appearance.

4. Sandalwood for calming your skin

Pure sandalwood paste is often used in hot places to cure sunburns, excessive tanning and to soothe the skin in general. The cooling effect is instant and the brightness of the skin thereafter is unmatched. The bonus is that it smells spectacular!

5. Skip products containing herbal active ingredients

Herbal ingredients are very effective but they tend to cause reactions more often. If you have tried and tested products, then by all means use them, but, this is not the time to experiment. If you haven’t used herbal products earlier, be vary because the active ingredients sometimes cause redness, itchiness and/ or irritation.

6. Chamomile for relaxation

Chamomile is known for its relaxation properties, whether taken internally or applied topically. A simple DIY could be your skin’s saviour from irritation. Make some chamomile tea, mix it with rose water, pour into a spritz bottle and refrigerate. Use this throughout the day to calm and refresh your skin. It is perfect to seal in your makeup as well!

7. Skip the hot showers

Stick to cold or lukewarm showers as they irritate the skin less. Hot water is neither good for your skin nor for your hair, so give it a miss. Well, at least for now, and your skin will thank you for it!

8. Stay away from facials

If your skin is already a bit sensitive, rubbing, massaging and scrubbing it might aggravate it further. If you feel like getting a facial, stick to a face massage using pure carrier oils to avoid the risk of redness and irritation. You don’t want to aggravate your skin any further before your big day, do you?

9. Honey for regeneration

Honey has been known to have excellent skin regenerative properties. Just dabbing some raw honey on irritated skin actually goes a long way in calming it down. It works for scrapes, burns and wounds too!

10. Sleep your way to beautiful skin

This one is non negotiable. Your skin isn’t going to calm down if you don’t. Get a massage and some rest and see a visible difference in your skin the next day. Show your body some love and it will certainly not let you down!
