#BeautyDiaries: THIS Detox Drink Made My Acne-Prone Skin *Glow*

I was 13 and unlike my other friends who had flawless skin, I was suffering from pimple invasions on my face. My dermatologist told me that I had hit puberty and these red bumps will continue showing up on my face every once in awhile. I don’t think I’d hit puberty, rather puberty had hit me real bad! All skin care articles online and every dermatologist I referred to told me that my acne will clear up on my face once I’m out of my teens. I lost patience every once in awhile and tried every possible thing I could to get rid of my zits, making my skin a field for experiments. Not that I’m particularly proud of making my skin go through all that, but at least I tried, right?

Well unfortunately for me, even after I outgrew my teen years, acne hadn’t outgrown me! I was now dealing with annoying bumps and spots well into adulthood.

Quite soon I realized that it’s not the products you apply on your skin that make all the difference but also the diet you follow. My focus instantly shifted from going to dermats and buying acne-clearing gels to cutting down on junk food and working out. It was a slow but effective process. Acne didn’t stop showing up overnight but the intensity did go down a bit.

It was around the same time that my mother and her friends had gone on a crazy weight loss regime. They were eating and drinking everything that was far from tasty. But this homemade detox drink that she would have every morning made me really curious. Not because it looked delicious or anything, but because I get fascinated by weird things and that’s exactly what this drink was! She was having it to lose weight, but when I Googled it, I found out that all the ingredients that go in it are actually quite good for the skin!

Internal homemade detox drink

Soon, I started giving my mother company in her early morning disgusting juice drinking activity. I wanted to throw up as soon as I took the first sip of this detox drink! But then I thought of all the nasty pimples and quickly gulped it down my throat. I continued having this drink for about a month and the results were unbelievable! I didn’t give up on my workouts and healthy eating for even a single day so I won’t completely factor that out. But my skin had become clearer and started glowing as well! By glowing, I don’t mean I’d become fairer (I don’t even want to), but my skin looked healthier. It didn’t look dull and tired all the time like it used to!

I don’t recommend having this drink for longer than a month since it’s a detox drink and you possibly can’t be detoxing everyday for months together. It’s a good way to cleanse your body and rejuvenate your skin every two months. Apart from the amazing results this drink showed on my face, it also helped me with weight loss!! That really wasn’t the aim but I did end up losing an inch or two around my waist. The drink boosts metabolism and helps lose weight in a constructive manner.

Here’s how to make the drink for those of you who want to try.
