A Homemade Mattifying Mask Is What Your Oily Skin Needs!

DIY masks are my favourite things to whip up in the kitchen. I feel like I’m back in school doing experiments over the weekend. Here though I am just doing it for my skin, which is always enough motivation. While my skin is relatively normal, it gets extremely oily when there is a lot of humidity. Primers are my saviours but sometimes they don’t do enough and because I like whipping up masks, I decided to look for a DIY variant

This homemade mask for matte skin is made with JUST two ingredients – Oatmeal and Lemon.

DIY Oatmeal Lemon Face Mask

Just blend 2 scoops of rolled oats with one lemon in a mixer.

This will give you a paste-like consistency which would be easy to apply and leave on your face.

Use a brush or a spatula to apply the mask on your face. I do my whole face but you could even do this just to the oily areas and/or your T-zone. Use a brush so the application is even which may or may not be achieved with your fingertips.

Leave on until dry and then wipe off with a hot towel.

Follow with an oil-free moisturiser.

How It Works

Raw rolled oats contain elements that add moisture and restore hydration to the face and they are also a natural exfoliator. It also removed dirt from clogged pores and dead skin cells which also work beautifully for blemished and dark spots.

Lemon juice, on the other hand, is an astringent and has anti-bacterial properties which remove unwanted oil from the skin. It also gives a natural glow to your skin while destroying acne-causing bacteria.

Basically, the oatmeal retains moisture while lemon strips the unnecessary oils and add a glow too.
