#BeautyDiaries: My MAGIC Homemade Hair Mask For Soft & Smooth Hair!

#BeautyDiaries: My MAGIC Homemade Hair Mask For Soft & Smooth Hair!

I am blessed with wavy hair and honestly, I love the way it is. During my teens, I struggled a lot with my hair as I started noticing the rate with which my hair was starting to fall and I had horrible dry ends and an extremely oily scalp. It was so bad that I needed to wash my hair almost every day. In order to get rid of the greasiness, washing my hair with shampoo every day, lead to an increase in the hair fall and sadly, I lost the volume of my waves.

For a few years I made peace with the condition of my hair and as I entered my 20s, the hair fall reduced. But the damage had been done – my hair wasn’t as nice as it looked during my early teens and I had to deal with bad hair days on a daily basis! Because of the oily scalp, I had to deal with dandruff too. Luckily, I didn’t have a bad case of dandruff but it did irritate me and I almost scratched the skin on my scalp raw. During this time I started experimenting with some home remedies on my skin in order to get rid of zits and acne scars. One day when I was sitting with a face pack, my mother asked me why don’t I buy some hair mask or make one at home?

I have oily skin, it’s extremely sensitive too, because of which I can’t use any chemical products as they irritate my skin. I realized that just like for my skin, I could try a DIY mask for my mane too. So, I looked for various homemade hair masks online for my hair type. I came across one with yoghurt, apple cider vinegar and honey and decided to give it a shot.

All you have to do is mix 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in half a cup of curd. Apply the paste on your scalp and ends and cover it with a shower cap for at least 20 minutes. I applied this hair mask once a week for a month and I was so surprised with the results!

This magical hair mask had transformed my dull and dry hair into soft and smooth waves and I was ecstatic. After years of dealing with dry ends and frizzy hair, I finally found a remedy for my woes. Every time I wash my hair after applying this hair mask, my strands feel extremely smooth. And guess what? It also gives my hair that beautiful shine I had always yearned for. Also, it did solve my dandruff problem (thanks to apple cider vinegar) to some extent but it would return in a few days’ time.

To get rid of dandruff for good, I went with my nani’s nuskha which consisted of 1 tablespoon of warm coconut oil and a few drops of lemon juice in it. I applied this two times a week and slowly the amount of dandruff reduced. I won’t say that it’s disappeared completely but with every application, it reduces a considerable amount. My scalp is very happy because now I don’t have to scratch it every two minutes!

Nowadays, I use the apple cider vinegar and honey hair mask twice a week for super soft, frizz-free locks and the coconut oil one once a week to help keep dandruff and greasiness in check. This the best beauty experiment I have ever done with my hair and I recommend the apple cider vinegar, yoghurt and honey mask, to everyone with my hair type. It’s been a few months since I started following this routine and believe me, I have smooth and soft waves, with lesser bad hair days.
