This was the year of big fat celeb weddings and we definitely managed to have our share of the shaadi shenanigans vicariously. No brownie points for guessing that for us at POPxo Wedding, the highlight of all these mega shaadis were the enviable wardrobe and the glorious bridal looks that kept us on our toes all year long. Sans an iota of doubt, we won’t have it any other way and we would definitely like to manifest another year of grand desi weddings with a throwback to our favourite bridal looks from 2021. Scroll down to see our fave looks:

Katrina Kaif’s Floral Lace Saree

Instagram

While Katrina surely left us gaping with her red bridal look, it was her pastel lace saree from the sundowner that actually hit the spot. The ethereal saree was embellished with semi-precious gems and crystals and it was definitely the long floral sleeves that appealed to us as the most stand out details in the outfit. In a homage to her mom’s British roots, Kat finished off her look with a trailing veil thus giving us one of the most standout bridal outfit of the year.

Rhea Kapoor’s Cleopatra Avatar

Instagram

Keeping up with her affinity to unique sartorial picks, Rhea Kapoor opted for an ivory saree for her D-day festivities. The chanderi saree featured statement cutwork details on the border and a long trailing pallu. She finished off the look with a vintage pearl veil by Birdie Chand and we are still waiting for a bride who can surpass this level of avant-garde styling.

Dia Mirza’s Forever Garment

Instagram

In an interview with POPxo earlier this year, Dia shared that she took the inspiration for her bridal look from nature and her great cultural inheritance. A sustainability champion, the actress wanted a forever garment and found her dream drape in a scarlet Banarasi weave.

Patrelekhaa Paul Traditional Bridal Avatar

Instagram

For her bridal look, Patralekhaa chose a Sabyasachi saree and paired it with a net dupatta. For the accompanying dupatta, Patralekhaa took inspiration from Deepika Padukone and had her border inscribed with auspicious mantras. We loved how her bridal look had a very classic appeal and was steeped in tradition.

Disha Parmar’s Heirloom Lehenga

Instagram

Disha took the traditional route at her wedding with a crimson creation by designer duo, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Resonating nicely with Disha’s no-frills personality, the lehenga turned out to be the perfect amalgamation of elaborate craftsmanship and a breezy silhouette.

Yami Gautam’s Very Special Saree

Instagram

Yami Gautam’s vermillion saree had our attention (and heart) both for its timeless appeal and the emotional value attached to it. The actress actually wore her mom’s hand-me-down drape for her D-day that was more than three decades old and showed us why handloom sarees would always be investments picks.

Ankita Lokhande’s Grand Gold Lehenga

Instagram

Ankita Lokhande went all out with her bridal look while opting for a generous drizzle of gold in her lehenga that made her stand out from all the celeb bridal looks that we spotted this year. She also added a trailing veil to the look for some added drama and we 100 percent approved!

Anushka Ranjan’s Fresh Look

Instagram

In a sharp departure from opulent bridal looks, Anushka Ranjan gave us a fresh take on wedding fashion with her lavender lehenga. The net outfit looked like it had been designed to keep things easy, breezy and convenient for the wearer and the ensemble served its purpose as she glided her way to the aisle.

Shraddha Arya’s Regal Lehenga

Instagram

Shraddha Arya’s lehenga caught our attention because of its jewel hue and the gorgeously panelled embroidery that gave it a regal look.

Malala Yousafzai’s Minimal Look

Twitter

Malala Yousafzai kept it simple for her nikah ceremony by opting for a Sienne-hued salwar suit set. The pure lawn Pakistani suit comprised an embroidered kurta, matching salwar, and a lace-trimmed chiffon dupatta. Malala finished off her look with a simple maang tikka, danglers, minimal bangles, and just a hint of nude lippie.

Juhi Godambe’s Pastel Fit

Instagram

For her wedding, Juhi dolled up in a Sabyasachi lehenga. Featuring the designer’s trademark dabka and zari embroidery, her soft pink silk lehenga turned to be a mid-summer wedding dream come true.

Evelyn Sharma’s White Bride Look

Instagram

The sheer, lace details on Evelyn’s trumpet cut lace gown were to die for. The actress finished off her look with minimal drop earrings and a messy hairdo and we definitely loved the entire impromptu wedding vibe.

Sugandha Mishra’s Gorgeously Detailed Lehenga

Instagram

We are still in awe of the turquoise and cobalt peacock motifs on Sugandha’s ivory lehenga and how beautifully they paired up with her baby pink dupatta.

Sanjana Ganesan’s Floral Bridal Look

Instagram

Reminiscent of Anushka Sharma bridal Sabyasachi, Sanjana opted for a baby pink lehenga featuring vivid magenta and green floral motifs. She carried two dupattas and we loved how both of them were kept extremely light and breezy.

Neha Varma’s Red On Red Lehenga

Instagram

Neha’s lehenga comprised a simple blouse with scallop detailing on the hem and neck and a minimal, see-through dupatta. It was the trailing colour-on-colour skirt that brought a touch of grandiosity to the outfit and reminded us of PC’s bridal look.

Priyanka Gusain’s Hand Painted Mehendi Outfit

Instagram

This bride managed to impress everyone by designing her own mehendi lehenga and actually hand painting it!

Sana Sayyad’s Pristine Pick

Instgram

Sana caught our attention by opting for a rather off-beta lily-white lehenga that featured marron and gold accents as embellishments.

Dr. Tanaya Narendra’s Statement Making Wedding Look

Instagram

Was it her glorious red Banarasi lehenga or the roaring message that she sent to all the designers who levy ‘fat tax’ that impressed us the most? We still can’t decide.

Hanna S Khan’s Fairytale Ball Gown

Instagram

In a first for Indian brides, Hanna got her reception look custom-designed by Elle Saab, the purveyor of all things epic gowns.

Dr. Jaspreet K. Sandhu’s 100 Kali Outfit

Instagram

For the anand karaj ceremony, Jaspreet went for a Plumtin Motif lehenga with 101 kalis. The lehenga featured traditional details and the maximalist appeal of the outfit was further elevated by its real zari work.

Natasha Dalal’s Ivory Number

Instagram

It’s only fitting to close this listicle with the bride who kick-started the celeb shaadi season 2021 with a bang. Back in January, Natasha Dalal turned on the statement bridal mode with her ivory lehenga that had everyone taking note of her contemporary, off-beat aesthetics.

Tell us fam, which one of these 2021 brides impressed you the most?
