#BeautyDiaries: I Coloured My Hair For A Day… With Eyeshadow!

Last weekend while I was randomly scrolling through my FB newsfeed, I saw a video with a very catchy title. It was about temporarily colouring your hair for a day (more like a DIY hair colour with eyeshadow and hairspray). I was like, ‘whaaa? Is this for real?’ It got me really excited because I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try a temporary hair colour.

Hearing of a hair colour that would match my style and keep up with my mood felt as if it were a dream come true! Having no expectations, I watched the entire video. I honestly found the hair tutorial to be super easy and doable. All you needed was an eyeshadow of your choice and a hairspray to get the job done. I decided to give it a shot soon after…

Unlike the video, I didn’t use a curling iron (I skipped that part because I have natural curls). I put my plastic gloves on, used a pestle stone to crush an old eyeshadow palette and poured the powder into a bowl. I then applied the powder on my tips and made my way up. The entire process took no more than 15 minutes and the difference was stark and beautiful!

To make sure the colour stayed in place, I used a hairspray. This kept both, my hair and the temporary colour, intact through the day. I started with a burgundy plum shade but since I love experimenting with different avatars, I tried going bold with a shimmery green shade for my other look.

I went all out with the green eyeshadow. It looks bold, out there and gave me a new personality! Even though the plum shade can hardly be made out, I think it works just fine if you want to play it cool with just a hint of colour.

The best part about this hair experiment is that the colour can be washed off in a jiffy. Spending less than 10 minutes in the shower, I was able to remove the colour using good old shampoo. Neither the eyeshadow nor hairspray damaged my hair. In fact, both these rockstars gave my locks a hot makeover.

I think it’s an experiment every girl should try, especially if you’ve always wanted to colour your hair! The coolest part is that with a variety of eyeshadows in the market, you’ll literally be spoilt for choice. Trying it once makes me want to try it again. This time I think I’ll wear it to a party, the mall or even on a date! I bet no one can tell the difference. *Wink*
