Bollywood’s Best-Kept Hair Secrets: 5 DIYs To Try

I went all out celebrating Holi. And even though I used a generous amount of oil, my hair feels so dry and brittle. So I did some digging and found simple solutions to all my hair problems, courtesy of my favourite celebs.

These easy fixes work their magic to nurse hair back to health, and I’ve jotted them down so you can follow them too!

Anushka Sharma’s All-Rounder Hair Mask

Instagram

Anushka mixes coconut oil with raw amla powder and egg yolk with a little bit of water. She applies this from root to tip before a hair wash.

Amla powder is great to exfoliate the scalp and promote hair growth while both, coconut oil and egg yolk helps strengthen the hair and adds shine. This mask is perfect for removing any product buildup or dandruff.

I rinse out my DIY masks with the Coco Soul Long, Strong & Black Shampoo.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Hair Oil Blend

Bebo‘s secret to her healthy mane is basically a champi with her personal favourite hair oil blend. The Jab We Met star mixes equal parts of olive oil, castor oil, and almond oil and massages it in her hair before a hair wash.

Castor oil is one of the best hair oils to reduce hair fall considerably and olive oil and almond oil help keep the hair bouncy and shiny.

In case you don’t want to make a DIY hair oil blend, I love using the St. Botanica Anti Hair Fall Hair Oil as it has the exact natural oils that Kareena uses.

Priyanka Chopra’s Anti-Dandruff Hair Pack

Priyanka mixes yoghurt with honey and lemon juice and applies it to her scalp and hair lengths.

Putting a shower cap on so that the mask doesn’t drip is a good idea since it should be kept on for at least 20 minutes before a hair wash. It helps soothe an itchy scalp and wash off dandruff.

After washing this mask off, I like to finish up with the St. Botanica Activated Charcoal Hair Conditioner.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Repairing Hair Pack

To protect her hair from damage on shoots, Janhvi takes about three tablespoons of yoghurt and adds a little bit of honey, one egg, and a dash of coconut oil.

The mask is to be applied from root to tip and washed off after half an hour. The raw egg is like a DIY keratin treatment for the hair and makes it strong and smooth.

An OTC hair mask that I love using to fight damage from hair colour treatments is the Iluvia Colour Lock Mask.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s Onion Mask

Instagram

Tamannaah admitted that she got a lot of flack for this DIY hair hack but it is too good for her to pass up on. The actress applies a mix of onion juice and coconut oil to her hair for 30 minutes before a hair wash.

Onion juice has sulphur which is essential for hair growth. Tamannaah also believes in the power of coconut oil for hair.

When I want the benefits of onion juice but don’t have time to procure it, I use the MyGlamm Superfoods Onion & Moringa Hair Oil.
