This Couple First Met On A Trek… Three Years Later They Got Married At The Same Spot!

When you think of romance, treks, and mountains, what’s the first thought that comes to your mind? Yep, it’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani time and again. You revisit the slopes of Gulmarg or Manali as it was referred to in the film and fall in love with Bunny and Naina all over again.

Making this their reality, Saumya and Saransh actually met on a trek. Talking exclusively to POPxo, she narrated her story saying, “Both of us love trekking and travelling. We had been trekking independently with our friends and hadn’t met. Until over 3 years ago when Parashar trek happened.”

It was all fate because Saumya and her friends were planning on embarking on the journey over the weekend when one from the gang dropped out suddenly. That’s when Saransh was asked by a common friend to join them impromptu. Saransh recalled the incident and spoke about how stumped he was when he first saw her at the ISBT bus stop looking stunning in the moonlight. (Little did he know at that time that he’d spend his entire life with her.)

Usually an easy trek, it took them about six hours to get on top with their backpacks, all thanks to the heavy rains. Everything was wet and it was pitch dark by the time they ascended to the top. They changed into dry clothes and stood around a circle sharing stories and playing games. Gotta do those mandatory camping things now, don’t we!?

While everyone retired to their rooms, Saransh and Saumya took a walk to the lake and stood under the stars chatting about life and love and everything in between.

The adventure junkies that they both are, they had their first date when they came back to Delhi at Decathlon ‘coz the store was on sale. Yep. That’s how their love story took off. Soon they started taking time out for each other and eventually fell in love.

They say the best way to get to know one another is to travel with them and these two definitely live by that. They spent time together chatting, playing, cooking, trekking to Sar Paas, Hampta Paas, Roopkund, Kheer-Ganga, Kareri Lake, Goechala and travelling to Himachal valleys and other places in India. That’s when they knew that a love like this doesn’t come around often.

Now, three years down the line they both decided to tie the knot. They didn’t want the hackneyed big, fat Indian wedding but wanted to make it much more personal and intimate than that. That’s when they thought that nothing could be as magical and special as getting married at the same place they had met all those years ago.

Both of them didn’t want a long, tiring religious ceremony. It just wasn’t their style. So instead of all of that, they decided to pick and choose wedding traditions from all around the world that they related to. Aww-dorable, right?!

First, they got a small court marriage done and then together they all took off.

They invited just their immediate family and two of their best friends each. A total of fifteen people including the bride and groom embarked on the trek, but this time to tie the knot and make it official. The sister-of-the-groom became the minister and officiated their wedding. They exchanged the jaimals and rings and wrote their own vows for each other. Their families surprised them with a song and they all celebrated the union.

And it gets even more adorable. Saumya’s brother had some vows for the groom to look after his sister and even Saransh’s sister wrote a few for her new sister-in-law to repeat! And that’s how one meet cute on a trek became the starting chapter in the rest of their lives.

BRB, going to book tickets to catch the bus and trek until I find my soulmate.

We’re sending all our love to Saransh and Saumya, your love is made for the movie screens. Wishing you all the happiness the world has to offer.
