“Cloud Skin” Is The Only Makeup Trend We Can Think About RN

As we spend hours ogling over every jaw-dropping beauty look on IG, we couldn’t help but notice a certain makeup trend infiltrating the social media platform. The latest trend to dominate the app is cloud skin. While donut skin reigned supreme last year, the cloud skin trend is here to steal its crown and headline 2023. Since its emergence in 2022, reels with the tag #cloudskin have over 539 million IG views.

Not to mention, it’s a huge hit among MUAs and celebs, too. All of the IT-girls – from Kim K to Kendall Jenner and Alia Bhatt to Kiara Advani – seem to have fallen under its spell. In contrast to the glazed donut trend that entails giving skin a wet-look shine, the cloud skin fad refers to creating a hazy, soft-focus base with a lit-from-within glow. Whether you want to click fire-emoji-worthy makeup selfies or make your complexion look like you have your fave IG filter floating over the top – the cloud skin trend has got you covered. It’s sexy. It’s glamm and can be achieved by anyone as long as you use the right products. So honey, keep on reading for our cloud skin guide.

The Runway-Favoured Cloud Skin Trend Is Taking Over The Glamm-World, Here’s How To Try It

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

The key to nailing cloud skin is prepping your skin with uber-hydrating products. We recommend slathering on a gentle chemical peel first and leaving it on for a couple of mins before rinsing it off. This will ensure your face is clean of dirt, impurities, dead skin cells, as well as makeup residue. Then, apply a glow-inducing serum followed by a hydrating moisturiser. You can also use a face oil if you want to give your face a lit-from-within radiance. Next, apply a pore-blurring primer. This will set the rest of your makeup products up for success by giving you a silky-smooth canvas. Let the primer really sink into your skin before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Next, Apply Foundation

Grab your fave foundation and apply it in thin layers to avoid a cakey-looking base. To achieve cloud skin, you need to apply the foundation starting from the center of the face and then blend it out evenly using a brush or a makeup sponge. Use push-press and patting motion for the my-skin-but-better finish. If you want to radiate the glow of a renaissance painting, we recommend using a velvet soft foundation for this.

Step 3: Set It With A Finishing Powder

Apply concealer on areas that need more coverage. Next, go in with a setting powder to give that fluffy, dreamy vibe to your makeup base. All you have to do is dab a teeny bit of powder near the nose, on the center of the forehead, in the inner corner of the eyes, across the jawline, and on the hairline. This will not only help in blurring out the pores but will also take down some of the wetness.

Step 4: Finish With A Top-Up Of Glow

Cloud skin trend doesn’t involve using an OTT highlighter, so if you are exacting, use a shimmer-less, lightweight highlighter that gives your skin a subtle glow. Dab it on top of your cheekbones to tie it all together. Add a little warmth to your face by applying semi-sheer cream blush and blending it in for a seamless finish.

Be a glow-getter!
