Bollywood Celebs Were Twinning & Winning This Diwali By Going Back To The Basics!

Diwali, in India, is nothing short of a grand wedding. After all, it is one of the biggest festivals in our culture. People dress up their homes, their offices, and themselves for the occasion. You will see everyone in their finest Indian wear and jewellery during this time. But 2018 was a little bit different. Instead of dressing OTT with heavy lehengas and blingy sharara sets for the big pooja, a lot of celebrities turned to good old basics like elegant kurtas, suit sets, and sarees proving that simple is beautiful.

Here are the all the celeb looks that caught our fashionable eye this Diwali!

1. Kareena’s Pastel Green Salwar Suit (Day)

Kareena Kapoor Khan wore a cotton salwar suit in a comforting pastel green colour by House of Kotwara, while the Khan boys were seen twinning in a white kurta-pyjama set. She accessorised this simple suit for the Diwali pooja at RK Studios with ethnic danglers by The Gem Palace, a chunky silver wristwatch, and matching green juttis by Fizzy Goblet.

2. Kareena’s Green Silk Saree (Night)

Later in the night, Mrs Khan wore a dark green silk saree by Raw Mango and teamed it with her own emerald studded and gold-toned chunky neckpiece. Such a simple look, and yet, it makes such a strong style statement.

3. Anushka’s Solid Saree

Anushka Sharma’s outfit was no surprise, TBH. The actress is often seen in simple sarees and smaller prints whether she’s wearing Indian wear or western. For her first Diwali as Mrs Kohli, she picked a toffee-brown solid saree and completed the look with a multi-stone jewellery set. If you can’t decide which hairstyle to pick with your saree, here are 35 hairstyles for saree. And, Anushka’s fail-safe clean bun hairstyle is one of them!

4. Karisma’s White Kurta (Day)

For the office pooja at their studio, Karisma Kapoor went for an all-white look with an embroidered kurta and churidar set. Even her potli bag was ivory white in colour. She accessorised the look with a bold, gold chain and maroon flats matching her lips. On the other hand, her daughter, Samiera Kapoor, paired a bright blue kurti with white wide-legged pants.

5. Karisma’s Red Suit (Night)

For the night party, Karisma continued to keep it simple with a red suit with magenta hues by Anita Dongre. Gold-toned drop earrings, bangles, and a ring – all by Jet Gems – is what was needed to complete the homely Diwali look.

6. Kajol’s Yellow Saree

Kajol opted for a bright yellow saree by Manish Malhotra. The white stripes and embellished border added to the saree’s charm in their own minimalistic way. She paired copper-toned chandbalis with the outfit, and her wedding band to add finishing touches. Check out what her daughter, Nysa Devgan, wore last night here. Spoiler alert – she’s the ‘best dressed’ celeb kid this Diwali!

7. Janhvi’s Pink And White Suit

Speaking of celeb kids, Janhvi Kapoor picked one of her everyday outfits for Diwali celebrations at her Dadi’s house. She was seen in a pink and white salwar suit with silver drop earrings and a sling bag.

8. Ananya’s Orange Kurta

Ananya Panday wore an orange kurta with cream-coloured palazzos for the Diwali pooja at her house, and at Dharma Studios – something so simple and relatable that we’d probably wear too for our Diwali pooja. Her younger sister Rysa, too, kept it low-key with a blue kurta and white leggings.

9. Alanna’s Floral Kurta

Alanna Panday, the fashionista of the Panday family, took things up a level by teaming her floral kurta and leggings with a pair of statement gold-toned earrings. She also carried an embellished potli bag and completed the look with pink juttis. How easy it is to get the look on a budget!

10. Mira’s Pink Salwar Suit

Last but not the least, Mira Kapoor celebrated Diwali twinning with her entire Kapoor family in a gorgeous pink salwar suit with gota-patti work and a floral printed dupatta. A pair of statement earrings were all she needed to add a festive touch to the OOTD.
