15 Beauty Tips For Your Neck That Nobody Ever Told You Were Important

We often worry about our skin on the face, hands and feet that we rarely even think about the skin on our neck. In fact, you’d be shocked to know that the first signs of ageing take place on your hands, under your eyes and neck. Neglecting any of these would make you look older than you actually are. Let’s focus on your neck today. Did you know that the skin on your neck is thinner and more delicate than the rest of your skin on your face? This makes it easily prone to wrinkles, fine lines and saggy skin.

Here Are 15 Beauty Tips For Your Neck

If you can splurge on makeup and skincare for your face, you can very well shift that attention to your neck. These simple beauty tips and tricks will help your neck look beautiful and youthful at the same time. Let’s check them out!

Remove All That Makeup

If you are applying makeup to your face, you must do the same for your neck. Especially when it comes to foundation. The shade needs to match both your neck and face to make you look all put together. While that’s all good, removing makeup before you go to bed is a must. Most women do it but forget to remove the makeup on the neck. That makeup residue can clog your pores, lead to acne and cause the skin to sag. So, the next time you remove your makeup, make sure that you do the same for your neck as well.

Do An Oil Massage

Twice a week, get an oil massage done for your neck. Just take some chamomile, almond or olive oil and in upward motions massage your neck. Do this for 5-10 minutes. Nothing more than that. You could stretch your skin if you continue. Oil helps to keep the skin on your neck hydrated and soft.

Don’t Forget To Exfoliate

You’ll have to unclog those pores on your neck by exfoliating. Always stick to a mild exfoliator and make sure that you’re massaging in an upward direction. How long should you be exfoliating you ask? 3 minutes tops! Make it a ritual and do it twice a week. Also, don’t forget to moisturise after exfoliating. It’ll keep your neck smooth, soft and hydrated.

Sunscreen & Repeat

Don’t think that if you apply sunscreen to your face, your neck won’t need it. Just how your face has sun spots, wrinkles and acne on it, you can get the same on your neck. Which is why you must apply SPF 30 or more (depending on your sun exposure) to both – your face and neck. The front, the back and the sides of your neck all need equal amounts of attention. Also, remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours.

Slap A Sheet Mask On

After a long day at work, you want to come home and just crash, right? After removing your makeup, don’t just go to bed. Slap a sheet mask on and place two slices of cucumber on your eyes. Since most sheet masks are dripping with serum, do not wash off the excess product away. On the contrary, spread the excess serum on your neck and relax. After removing the mask, you’ll notice how glowy, nourished and happy your skin starts to look.

Or Make A Face Mask At Home

Don’t want to spend a buck on sheet masks? No worries! You can make a face mask at home using the natural ingredients in your kitchen. When I’m bored at home, I usually make a neck mask using pumpkin pulp. I love it because it has anti-ageing properties and is super nourishing for the skin. Just one ingredient left on your neck for just 15-20 minutes, is enough to make your neck glow and feel super soft. For brightening, mashed bananas with olive oil are your mask ingredients.

Improve Your Posture

When you’re sitting, avoid slouching. Sit straight and avoid bending your neck too much while reading or watching your favourite show on your laptop. Bending your neck to look at screens not only tires your neck but eyes as well. From time to time, stretch your neck and massage it. Stretching every day improves blood flow and slowers down its ageing process.

Wash Your Neck

Sweat, dust, pollution will surely clog your pores if you don’t wash your neck often. What you should be doing after getting home is scrubbing your neck with a face wash. If you have oily or sensitive skin, then simply use plain soapy water to wash your neck.

To Brighten Dull Skin

One of the coolest things you can do to brighten up your skin is to make a mix of gram flour and tomato puree. Scrub and massage that mix all over your neck and leave it on for a good 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water. This will help to lighten and brighten your dull skin (Especially if you got a tan from a recent vacay.)

Vitamin E is Your Bestie

I’ve used Vitamin E in the past and I witnessed an instant result. Both face and neck felt smoother and softer after use. I believe if you continue using Vitamin E, it’ll heal and reduce the appearances of blemishes, sunspots and scars as well. If you’re thinking of consuming Vitamin E supplements, don’t go ahead without getting your dermatologist’s approval.

Rub Your Neck With Ice

Rubbing ice all over your neck helps to reduce pore size and heal inflamed areas. However, don’t just apply ice directly to your neck. You could get frostbite! Wrap the ice cube up in a cloth and then rub your neck with it. 3-5 minutes is more than enough.

Improve Your Quality Of Sleep

Avoid sleeping on pillows that are high. Make sure that your neck is with the rest of your body while you snooze. Sleeping on a high pillow will not only strain your neck but make also cause damage if you’re not careful enough.

Peppermint Oil Helps To Brighten Your Neck

Another cool way to brighten your neck is to massage the area with peppermint oil. Believe it or not, but peppermint helps remove toxins from the system and the scent also calms the nerves. If you continue to use this ingredient for a couple of months, you are bound to notice a positive change in your neck’s appearance. Never use undiluted essential oils on your skin. If you are using peppermint essential oil, make sure you dilute it with a carrier oil like almond or jojoba.

Don’t Forget To Use A Toner

To maintain your skin’s health and glow, you might want to use a toner more often. Apply the toner with a cotton ball to your face and neck. Don’t forget to apply lotion to your face and neck as well. It’ll help keep the area smooth and baby soft.

Make A Face Pack Using Honey & Egg White

Since both these ingredients can be found in most households, you don’t have an excuse to not try it. While honey helps to moisturise and nourish skin, egg whites, tighten and brighten skin. Mix both these ingredients well and use your fingers to scoop up some gooey goodness. Apply all over your face and neck. Wash it after 20 minutes with lukewarm water. For positive results, do this twice a month.

Now that you know all the tips, tricks and skincare products to look after your neck’s beauty,  which of these pieces of information will you try out first? I’d love to know your favourites. ALSO, if you have any more tips you would like to add, do share!
