Kendall Jenner’s Gua Sha Technique Will Give You A Facelift At Home!

For the fourth time, Kendall Jenner shared her Beauty Secrets with Vogue. This time it involved an improved skincare routine, a few acne-positive comments, and a great deal of grace. A sneak peek into her quick and easy morning skincare routine has me wondering – it can’t be that easy to lift your face, can it?

Wait, What?

Gua shas have been beauty’s biggest trend since 2020. Plus, every celebrity that uses it gives glowing reviews for a variety of reasons!

“The gua sha and jade rolling have been used in Chinese medicine for centuries to move the body’s flow of “chi” (or energy) and relieve muscle pain and tension,” says a NYT piece. “…both gua sha and jade rolling can increase blood flow, improve lymphatic drainage, and reduce inflammation and puffiness,” says their expert on board – Giselle Wasfie, a doctor of Chinese medicine and founder of Chicago-based REMIX Acupuncture and Integrative Health. She also mentions that since the gua sha tool is more precise than a jade roller, she has noticed that “it gives her clients a little more of a “lifted” look than a jade roller does”.

Kendall’s Gua Sha Routine

Kendall’s routine starts with the basics: 100% extra virgin face oil coupled with a spritz of rose water to prep her skin. But here’s the cool part – she puts her gua sha tool in ice to enhance its feel on the skin and ease of use. After thoroughly massaging her face with the oil and spritzing rosewater, she begins her routine.

Start with the eyes: She focuses on the delicate area around her eyes to reduce puffiness and brighten the look.

Move to the jawline: She then works under her chin, pulling the gua sha towards the neck to promote lymphatic drainage and sharpen her jawline.

Chin to ear: Next, Kendall pulls the tool from her chin upwards towards her ear, tightening the skin.

Forehead and eyebrows: Starting from her left eyebrow, she pulls upwards towards the forehead. Kendall admits, “I feel like my brows can get really uneven, so I go really up on this one because it needs a little lift.”

Balancing the brows: For her naturally arched eyebrow, she brings the gua sha outward for a slight straightening effect to match its sister. “Sisters not twins!” she jokes about their differing shapes.

Cleanse and refresh: Post-gua sha, she washes her face to remove the oil, ensuring her pores remain clear.

What Next?

To maintain her skin’s health, especially being acne-prone, Kendall trusts in a post-massage routine that includes the Jan Marini Bioglycolic Face Cleanser and the La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizer. Both are unavailable in India so the Dermalogica Daily Glycolic Cleanser & D’you In My Defence are great dupes!

She follows this up with the EltaMD UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 to protect her skin from harmful UV rays.

Lastly, she sets her skin with the Caudalie Beauty Elixir Face Mist for extra hydration and a quick refresh throughout the day.

If you’re looking for a non-invasive way to lift and sculpt your face, why not take a page out of Kendall’s beauty book? After all, who needs needles when you have the icy touch of Kendall Jenner’s favourite skincare hack?
