For her big day, Athiya wore an Anamika Khanna creation and I personally love how she’s ditched the traditional red for subtle colours at her sunset wedding. Her chikankari lehenga was covered with intricate zardozi and jaali work, and the blouse flaunts the same lovely embroidery on the long sleeves. Such a modern-day princess look, no?

The cricketer too made for the perfect groom in his ivory sherwani that was accessorized with a kundan and emeralds necklace. Don’t the newlyweds look perfect together?

Speaking to a leading daily about Athiya’s wedding lehenga, designer Anamika Khanna said, “Athiya’s got extremely fine, subtle, and beautiful taste. I wanted to develop something special for her that was resonant with the fact that she was going to be the bride, but she was never going to be that bride for whom everything else takes over,” she said.

Anamika further added, “She has a very strong personality, and I think she’s acutely aware of it. We created an extremely fine piece of chikankari, as well as jaali ka kaam and Zardozi. In terms of the colour, it is an old-rose colour and even the metallic colours that we’ve used on the lehenga, is slightly burnt and old-world. It’s got that subtlety to it.”

Here’s wishing a lifetime to love and happiness to the couple.
