AIB Finally Releases An Official Statement, Says It’s ‘Dead For The Foreseeable Future’

The dark era for All India Bakchod (AIB) began last year in October when a writer accused writer-actor and comedian Utsav Chakraborty of sexual harassment. She revealed that he sent sexually explicit messages to her and several others, and he even allegedly sent unsolicited photos of his genitalia. Later, he asked her not to ‘out him’ as his career would take a major setback.

Utsav had worked closely with the All India Bakchod team on several sketches. Co-founder and CEO Tanmay Bhat was accused of ignoring complaints of sexual misconduct and harassment against Utsav and hence, had to step down from his position.

Around the same time, co-founder Gursimran Khamba was accused of violating consent and emotionally abusing a woman.

Since then, team AIB went off radar and did not make or release any new gigs.

Yesterday, team AIB took to their social media to share a new update and it took us by surprise.

They wrote, “We cannot overlook Tanmay’s role and in light of this, he will be stepping away from his association with AIB until further notice. This implies that Tanmay will not be involved with the day to day functioning of AIB or in any other manner.”

About Khamba, they wrote, “With regards to Gursimran Khamba, an External Committee (EC) was appointed to look into the allegations made against him in October… However, during the course of the investigation, we were informed that Gursimran Khamba had stepped away from the process, citing issues with the procedure. The EC was unable to conclude the investigation on account of his withdrawal.”

Soon after, Khamba took to his Instagram to announce his new independent venture and also revealed why he withdrew from the inquiry against him.

His new venture is called Light@27 which is a comedy consultancy which will offer content and strategy solutions across live and digital media.
