Taking A Break From Gel Manis? This DIY Cuticle Oil Will Nurse Your Nails Back To Health

DIY_nail_cuticle_oil.png

I don't remember the last time I embraced my natural nails for more than a week, thanks Corona? I am addicted to getting nail extensions. Sometimes my manicurist has to beg me to not get extensions as my nails have become as thin as paper.

The constant gel manicures have made my nails weak and brittle, they start to crack even when I'm doing basic chores like washing my hair or scratching my arm. But thank God for cuticle oil. In just a week, I've seen a massive improvement in the condition of my nails and I'm ready to bring out my claws again 💅

For those of you who don't know, cuticle oil is a moisturizing product that helps your nails and cuticle become stronger with every use. It consists of essential oils and vitamins that help strengthen our nails from within. Cuticle oil can be used by anyone who has cracked, brittle, thin or even inverted nails. But don't worry if you do not have a cuticle oil handy as we are gonna tell you how to make one at home!

How To Make Your Own Cuticle Oil At Home

If you have ever paid attention to what your manicurist is doing whilst you're getting a manicure instead of aimlessly scrolling Instagram, you might have noticed that they always use a cuticle trimmer to trim out the dead skin around your nails (your cuticles!).

(🙋 if you are guilty of pulling out and biting your cuticles.)

But don't worry, after using this oil, your nails and cuticles will feel nourished in no time!

You'll need:

- Almond oil

- Vitamin E tablets

- Lavender Essential Oil

- Rosehip Essential Oil

- Funnel

- An Empty Nail Polish Bottle (Or A Bottle With A Dropper)

Step 1: Take your empty container and using a funnel, pour a few drops of almond oil, lavender oil and rosehip oil.

Step 2: Cut open 2-3 tablets of vitamin E and add it to your oils.

Step 3: Close the lid of the container and shake to mix all the ingredients properly.

Step 4: Your DIY cuticle oil is now ready to be applied to your nails.

Why Will This Work?!

All the types of oils mentioned above are amazing to strengthen our nails.

Almond oil: Has important vitamins such as A, B1, B6 and E that protect our nails from cracking or peeling. It is also amazing for dry nails.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E has moisturizing benefits that help prevent our nails from becoming yellow, reverse nail damage and softens our nails as well as our cuticles. If you do not have any of the ingredients, you can always use one single tablet to massage your dry nails.

Lavender essential oil: Due to its antifungal properties, lavender oil is highly recommended to people who have nail fungus. It also helps to promote keratin (the protein our nail is made of!) which makes our nails strong and healthy.

Rosehip essential oil: It helps nourish nail follicles, improves the condition of our nails, and is essential is treating cracked up nails.
