In Your Birthday Suit! 7 Beauty Benefits Of Sleeping Naked We Bet You Didn’t Know

I fail to understand what’s the big hoo-ha about sleeping naked? I’m sure you’ve probably heard some of your friends doing it and wondered whether it’s worth giving it a shot or not. Without a doubt, do it! According to a renowned physiotherapist, Sammy Margo, sleeping naked actually helps to maintain the perfect body temperature. She mentioned this in an interview with Huffington Post that, “In order to get a quality’s night sleep, you need to be cool. By doing this, you’re releasing your sleepy hormone, melatonin.” While sleeping sans your PJs helps to improve sleep quality and fall asleep faster, it does have plenty of beauty benefits too!

7 Wonderful Beauty Benefits Of Sleeping Without Your Clothes On

Beware that sleeping naked feels so good that it might actually turn into a positive addiction! *Wink*

1. Your Skin Can Finally Breathe

Throughout the day, your skin has been kept trapped in those tight pair of jeans and that body-fitting crop top. The least you could do is give your skin a chance to breathe at night for a few hours. Areas like your feet, underarms, inner thighs, vajayjay, need to be exposed to air often to keep them cool and prevent the risk of catching a skin disease like athletes foot and fungal rashes.

2. There’s An Overall Glow

Pyjamas are comfy et all, but you can’t deny the fact that most pants have elastic bands at the waist area. This includes socks and tight tees too. When you sleep naked, it helps to boost blood circulation. Your blood is free to flow freely throughout the body and touch base with your muscles, arteries and heart. In a nutshell, adequate blood circulation = overall glow.

Whether you’re married or in a live-in relationship with your man, skin-on-skin contact makes cuddling a more enjoyable experience. When you do this with your partner, your bodies produce massive amounts of oxytocin that help to not only make you two feel happier as a people but feel closer and more connected to one another.

4. Sleep Slows Down The Ageing Process

Did you know that when you sleep, your body produces growth hormones and melatonin? These two are one of the most important anti-ageing hormones and when you sleep, your body produces more of it. So, how do you get more sleep? You have two options – either lower the temperature on your air conditioner or sleep naked OR do both! Lower body temperatures equal to better and deeper sleep quality.

5. Belly Fat Be Gone!

Sleeping without your clothes on causes your body to cool down. The moment when that happens, your cortisol levels drop too. However, for this to happen, you must choose to sleep early. 10 pm – 2 am lowers cortisol levels and post 2 am your body starts to produce more cortisol, to help you get fit and ready for the next day. You see, when you are sleep deprived, your cortisol levels rise and that causes you to eat more comfort food. Turning those calories into belly fat.

6. Your Vajayjay’s Health Improves

Here’s a tiny fact about your vagina – it’s an extremely warm and humid environment down there. If not exposed to air or cleaned often, it could become a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. When you ditch the undies, you’re actually exposing your vagina to air and giving it a chance to breathe.

7. Your Skin Heals During Sleep

When you are fast asleep, your skin repairs itself. Tiny wounds are healed faster and more collagen gets produced that helps to minimize fine lines. For a glowy skin complexion, you should be sleeping for 9 long hours every night. This helps to prevent the occurrence of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin and dark circles under the eyes.

Now that you know the benefits of sleeping naked, are you tempted to give it a shot? I hope you are!
