Becoming a vegetarian (and vegan) has been catching on for a while now. A lot of people are quitting eating meat and other animal products to protest against the rampant cruelty against animals in slaughterhouses everywhere. Did you know that increased consumption of meat has now been linked with dangerous climate change?
Recently, a lot of celebrities have also chosen to go the vegan way. Some of them have chosen vegetarianism to support the 'cruelty-free' life and some just wanted to be healthier.

Shahid Kapoor has been a vegetarian for the longest time and he's very vocal about it too. In fact, it was even reported that he convinced his then-girlfriend, Kareena Kapoor to become a vegetarian when they were dating. He took on vegetarianism as a lifestyle when his father gifted him the book 'Life Is Fair' by Brian Hines. One read was all it took for him to give up meat. In fact, he has been a part of several PETA ad campaigns and was awarded Asia's Sexiest Vegetarian in 2011 by them.
Sonakshi Sinha is an avid animal lover and to show her support to causes against animal cruelty, she gave up non-vegetarian food. Her strictly vegetarian diet helped her lose tons of weight and improved her metabolism which made her even more committed to it.

Hailing from the hills, Kangana Ranaut loved her meat till she realized that it really did not agree with her body. Soon, she gave up all meat and dairy products and became a vegan for her own health. She once said in an interview, "When I decided to become a vegetarian, I realized that consuming dairy products was not agreeing with me and was giving me acidity. Hence, I switched to being a vegan and this has made a lot of difference in my life. I am very happy now."
Belonging to a Sikh family, Neha was brought up on a non-vegetarian diet. But she quit eating meat, as she'd always wanted, for her beloved animals. She once said, "I’ve realized that the benefits of eating plant-based foods include feeling energetic and succeeding to keep weight in control."
