How To Glow Like A Kapoor Without Spending A Kapoor’s Fortune

Something that people (I am people) really love to see is the BTS of Bollywood’s nepo babies. I always want to know who did Shanaya Kapoor’s makeup or what perfumes Ananya Panday is into. You can’t blame me – most of the content on Instagram revolves around their big, Bollywood lives.

Turns out, they all have one thing in common – the same circle of makeup artists. And each of them has a series of tips and tricks on their Instagrams on how to get that gorgeous, ‘I’ve never felt direct sunlight on my face’ glow without the big bucks. Here’s everything I learned by stalking them on Instagram.

Setting Powder Is Your Best Friend

As someone who has big pores and likes to dabble in the occasional full face of makeup, setting powder is my best friend and Ridhhima Sharma, makeup artist for Shanaya Kapoor and Rashmika Mandana agrees. Here are a few ways she likes to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Loose Setting Powder.

Keep It Clean

Sandhya Shekar, one of the most popular names and Deepika’s go-to MUA was also the visionary behind Alia Bhatt’s Ambani pre-wedding look. “Minimal, clean, and dewy are not buzzwords or trends but almost a way of being in the work I do. My idea of beauty is to enhance the features and not let make-up overpower them,” she says.

Overline Your Lips

Another one of my personal favourites is Namrata Soni, the maestro behind most of Sonam Kapoor’s looks. The artiste’s looks and makeup line have to be some of the most multifunctional ones out there. All of her looks are perfect for brunch or the MET and the key to her mastery is keeping things minimal. Instead of using a lip liner, she likes to line her lips with the lipstick she’s using for a more seamless look. This hack works especially well if you have thinner lips and want to wear a bold shade.

Don’t Overdo The Base

Okay, you can fight me on this but one of the best makeup looks in SoBo is definitely Neeta Ambani. So I had to include her makeup artist, Mickey Contractor. Contractor has also worked with the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Ananya Panday – I mean you name her, he’s probably done a look for her.

One of his best tips has to be, “(While) I haven’t found any full-proof product that can help a meltdown, the trick is not to overload makeup. Wear a longwear foundation, waterproof mascara, and water-resistant liners. Wear minimal foundation to avoid blotches, and stick with matte lips.”

Skin Prep Is Key

Mehak Oberoi has done heart-throbbing looks for Alaya F, Kiara Advani, and many more. One of her go-to tips is to make sure your skin is hydrated before you apply anything to it. “The most vital part of doing makeup for me is prepping the skin well because it makes the makeup look beautiful on the skin. I like to incorporate a lot of face rollers, face masks and massagers in the skin prep,” she says in an interview with Elle India.
