Even the steadiest of hands can take a slip at the edge of that cat-eye, drop-eye or other creative eyeliner wings. Eyeliner malfunctions happen with the best of us, even with those hacks everyone has up their sleeves. But what if we told you that there is an eyeliner trend out there, that will make this entire process a lot easier for you?
Lo and behold ladies, there’s a new eye trend this season that’ll make things move faster and easier for you. So far, the trend didn’t have a name and it was seen as a modification of other eye trends, but now it does (thanks to Refinery29) - ‘thumbprint eyeliner’.
Lady Gaga showed up at the Grammy’s with this look in blood red and it’s already on NYFW runway at shows like Jason Wu and Tom Ford. And guess who is making it more popular at the moment? Our awesome blossom Selena Gomez. She had this look on with her charcoal-coloured shadow at the Coach show, and you should too, at your Friday night party.
For application, you make oval wings on your lash line instead of pointed wings and it will leave you with imperfect results, and that’s okay btw. The messier it is, the better it looks. The rounded drop of shadow is exactly the same size as the pad of your finger.
Praise the Lord, you won’t be needing a liquid liner for this one which will save you from a lot of mess in rush hours - that pile of half-used tissues and uninvited random strokes of liquid liner on skin, you know how it is.
And this is not even the most exciting part! This is. Unlike other liner styles, you don’t have to create a mirror image of it on your other lash line, you have to create a ‘sister image’ instead. So, breathe the air of ease because this season, you don’t have to worry about how precise your eyeliner is. You can use a brush or you can use your finger to get that rounded flick, whatever suits your better.
So, don’t wait up, my lovelies, because this trend has caught on, and how! It’s easy and as exciting as buying all shades of lipsticks in your budget. Just get your colours and brushes ready and try it now, but do treat yourself with a new liner though…
