Okay fam, something has happened and in all honesty, I think that we have called it upon ourselves. Actually, I sort of had a hunch for it when Kokilaben and Yashraj Mukhate’s rap on her dialogue started trending a week ago. And so wild went the frenzy that the rap and all the subsequent Kokilaben and Gopi bahu memes have been breaking the internet for seven days now.
Well at times when we talk and think about something too much, we tend to manifest it and as good as it sounds, in this case, we have actually manifested a brand new season of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. Yup, you read that right! The cult Star Plus show is all set to return with a Season 2 now!
Confirming the same, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’s producer Rashmi Sharma shared in a recent interaction with a leading media portal, “Saathiya has been a talking point since its launch in 2010. Even after it ended, it remained on top of my mind and we came up with some ideas on how we could take it forward. During the lockdown, its reruns were widely watched, and that made us believe this is a good time to bring it back with a new season.”
She further added, “Its recall value is still very strong. There will be many new characters and a twist in the storyline, but it will remain a family show and be driven by relationships.”
On being asked if the show’s Season 2 will have any of the original characters, Rashmi replied, “Saathiya can’t return without the Modi family, so yes, Kokilaben and Gopi will be back.” But wait for it! The producer has also confirmed that Rupal Patel and Devoleena Bhattacharjee would be reprising their roles as Kokilaben and Gopi. “But the hunt is also on for new faces,” she further added.
It was after a parody song composed by music producer Yashraj Mukhate that one of Kokilaben’s dialogues and the character went viral. Since then the internet has been flooded with memes based on Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. However, we have clearly forgotten how problematic both the show and the character of Kokilaben actually used to be. Well, we had this coming!
