It’s been almost one year since we woke up to the heartbreaking news of Bollywood actress Sridevi’s demise. The iconic actress breathed her last on February 24th in Dubai, where she was attending a family wedding with her husband, Boney Kapoor and daughter, Khushi Kapoor. She was India’s first female superstar and one of the most beautiful and loved artists in the industry. Ahead of her first death anniversary, the Kapoor family held a puja at her maternal house in Chennai.

Along with her daughters Janhvi and Khushi and husband Boney Kapoor, the puja was attended by her brother-in-law (and co-star in several films) Anil Kapoor. He reminisced, “She was my brother’s wife and my wife’s friend as they connected really well. Whenever we met, there was always fun, laughter and humour. People like Sridevi ji are difficult to forget.” He further expressed that her films are still being seen and pictures still being published everywhere. “She will always be missed,” he said.
Apart from their family members, the prayer meeting was also attended by Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, his wife Shalini, English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde and her filmmaker husband, R Balki.

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut with Dhadak in 2018, has often talked about her mother’s death and the pain of missing her. During one of her media interactions, she admitted, “We’ve lost mom and I don’t think that’s a loss any of us will ever get over.”
She also accepted that after her mother’s demise, she has become closer to her half-siblings Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Although she doesn’t remember anything of those months, she does remember one specific day when she felt better. “We were sitting in Harsh (Harshvardhan Kapoor) bhaiya‘s room and Arjun bhaiya and Anshula didi came in – I think that was the one day when I felt like, Ok maybe we might be okay,” she admitted.

Janhvi even revealed her mother’s advice that she never ceases to forget. “Mom said don’t overthink it, just feel it. And be honest to what you’re doing, work hard, give it your everything, and just put your head down and keep working. It’s as simple as that; it doesn’t need to be complicated,” the young actress said.
