After #MeToo, Men Pledge To Take Action With #HowIWillChange

We’ve all witnessed and even shared our experiences as a part of the #MeToo campaign that has been making rounds on the social media circuit worldwide. A hashtag that came into play to get women to talk about sexual harassment and discuss the impact of that assault on their lives. The sheer magnitude of women who came out and shared their stories didn’t surprise us but definitely made an impact on the men.

Hence began - #HowIWillChange, a hashtag started by Australian journalist Benjamin Law, aimed at getting some men to admit their contribution to sexual harassment (sometimes by simply not acknowledging that the problem is as pervasive as women say it to be) and to create more awareness amongst the rest.

What disappointed me the most was the lack of initiative taken by Indian men on social media. While the women on my timeline had a lot to say, the men barely even shared the posts made. Maybe this hashtag will turn into a call for action.
