After doing four films together, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh will next be seen in Kabir Khan's '83. The film is based on the life of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, concentrating on the phase of his life when he captained the Indian cricket team, leading us to victory in the 1983 World Cup. Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the role of Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone will play the role of the cricketer's wife, Romi Dev in the movie.
Yesterday, Deepika Padukone shared a video of Ranveer Singh from the sets on her Instagram stories, where she was seen cheering on her on and off-screen husband from the stands. The duo posted a series of pictures on Instagram with director Kabir Khan to commemorate the first day of their shoot.
Deepika shared the pictures with the caption "& on to the next...Thank You @kabirkhankk for this incredible honour...! #RomiDev #Day1" and Ranveer shared another picture with the cute caption, "Who better to play My Wifey than My Wifey?! 😉❤️"
Recent reports say that the actress is being paid a whopping 14 Crores to play the supporting role in the movie. Sources have said that the actress' role would be short yet significant to the story of the film, "83 is about the Indian cricket team led by Kapil Dev winning the 1983 World Cup in England and Wales. How much of a role Deepika can have as Kapil Dev’s wife in a plot that is not devoted to Kapil’s off-field life?"
The amount Deepika is being paid for 83 is more than the 13 Crores she was paid for her lead role in Padmaavat. Apparently, it was Ranveer Singh who convinced the actress to come on-board, "I think Ranveer almost convinced her, then the zeros on the cheque did the rest," a source from the set told a leading newspaper.
We can't wait to see what they have in store!
