Let’s face it, most guys feel completely lost when it comes to periods. They have no clue about what we go through, and that’s fair enough. We’re not saying that they don’t try to understand us and our mood swings, but most of the times they fail because even we can’t understand what’s going on with us when we’re PMSing. So what do guys actually think about periods? Well some guys on Quora answered the question, and here’s what they really think…
1. ‘I usually adjust to their mood swings…’ – Good! Keep it up!!
Sayantan Mukherjee says… Well as a boy, I would say I feel nothing. That is something women have to face and that is a part of their healthy life cycle. To treat them badly or awkwardly is a very bad, gross thing to do. I usually adjust to their mood swings, they’re in pain when they do that. My mom and my sister try their hardest to keep everything at home the same even when they are going through this, so I support them and I adjust to their emotions and their moods.
Taking it as a taboo is a very non-human way to go about it.
2. ‘We feel bad if the ones we love, are having cramps…’ – Cramps, bloating, hormonal flood, and what not?! We feel bad too!
Saswata Roy says… Nothing! This is a natural phenomenon and we can’t do anything about it!
We feel bad if the ones we love, are having cramps and the pain can be quite unbearable at times!
However, we have to deal with the mood swings of our girls and most of us do that happily!
3. ‘I feel like buying her lots of chocolates.’ – That’s so sweet! The world needs more guys like you!
Madhu Sudan says… I feel like hugging and kissing her. I feel like buying her lots of chocolates. I feel like helping her out and not to stress her. I feel like keeping my warm hands near her tummy and kissing her forehead. I feel like spending more quality time with her and make sure that she loves each and every second of it.
4. ‘I feel happy and sad at the same moment.’ – Okay, tell us more about it…
Anonymous says… I feel happy and sad at the same moment.
Sad because they have to go through this painful process every month. It is tiresome to carry pads in their bag wherever they go and change it every 4 to 5 hours. While outdoors, they have to worry about the whereabouts of public washroom. It is also sad that they lose blood every month and have to compensate by having healthy diets. They also suffer from menstrual disorder.
As a guy, we have nothing to help about. But I help my girl by sitting on her thighs. She says that she feels relaxed by doing so.
Happy because she is not pregnant.
5. ‘I’m not sure I have an opinion on menstruation, eating, breathing, blinking…’ – Exactly! That’s the best way to go about it!
Ryan P. Long says… I’m not sure I have an opinion on menstruation, eating, breathing, blinking, digestion, reflexes, or any other normal biological function of the human body except to say that if it’s happening normally then that probably means a person has no obvious health issues! Good for her!
6. ‘A mature guy would feel sympathetic towards the girl…’ – We don’t need sympathy, we just want guys to understand us!
Frank Dauenhauer says… A mature guy would feel sympathetic towards the girl and would treat her with respect. An immature guy might think ‘yuck!’ and might turn away.
