Vivek Oberoi Receives Death Threats Because Of His Role In The Film PM Narendra Modi

Vivek Oberoi has been in news these past few days for his controversial tweet. Earlier this week, the actor posted a meme of his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, comparing their dating life to an exit poll. After being on the receiving end of criticism for the same, including some from Bollywood biggies like Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Esha Gupta, Vivek Oberoi is now receiving death threats.

Later, he did post an apology on Twitter, after making a snarky comment towards Sonam Kapoor, but the death threats aren’t related to the Twitter fiasco. The actor is the lead in the film based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi titled PM Narendra Modi which is set to release on 24th of May. Sources say that he has received death threats for being a part of the film. A tweet has been shared by the news agency, ANI, stating that he will be provided protection by the Mumbai Police. Sources also state that the death threats have been made by Naxalites.

After six years since his last lead role in the 2013 film Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, Vivek is making a comeback in Bollywood with PM Narendra Modi. The film has been in the news recently since the release date was postponed. Originally, the movie was supposed to release in April, however, the Election Commission put a ban on the release till after the election results were declared. Which lead to the change in its release date to 24th May.

After the release of the second trailer, the film is being heavily criticised for its portrayal of ex-Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, with some name calling involved. In a recent interview with a TV channel, Vivek Oberoi shared his frustration saying that the film is being targetted, as its release was held back in 40 countries a day before the release date after the prints had been sent out. He also mentioned that there is nothing in the moral code of conduct that can prevent the release of a biopic.
