Vivek Oberoi Finally Takes Down The Tasteless Meme About Ex-Girlfriend Aishwarya Rai

Vivek Oberoi, the actor who is playing the role of India's Prime Minister in the biopic titled PM Narendra Modi recently dug a hole for himself on Twitter. Yesterday, the actor tweeted a meme about the exit polls, but in the context of his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai and actor Salman Khan. Vivek Oberoi was severely criticised for the same and several celebrities, including Sonam Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar called out the actor for his insensitive tweet.

Today, the tweet was deleted by the actor, "I have no problem in apologising, but tell me what wrong have I done? If I have done something wrong I will apologise, I don't think I have done anything wrong. Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it. I don't know why people are making a huge issue out of it. Someone had sent me a meme which made fun of me. I laughed on it and I appreciated the person for his creativity. If someone mocks at you, you should not take it seriously. They couldn't stop my film, now they are trying this," the actor told news agency ANI.

"Stop overacting in your films and stop overreacting on social media. I've been working in women empowerment for 10 years now. I don't think this is hurting anyone's sentiments," he told ANI.

Actress Aishwarya Rai hasn't commented on the tweet yet, which lead to this statement by Vivek Oberoi, "Those in the meme don't have a problem, but everyone else has." The National Commission for Women and the Maharashtra State Commission for Women have said they will issue a notice to the actor about his meme to which the actor responded, "I'd like to meet them, I'll also like to explain myself because I don't think I have done anything wrong."

Kangana Ranaut's sister, Rangoli Chandel seems to have taken offense to the National Commission for Women taking this issue more seriously than they did Kangana's controversy with Hrithik Roshan.
