Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcoming their baby girl, Vamika, on January 11 was truly the highlight of 2021. While the couple chose to keep their newborn away from the public eye, we just can’t help but hope to get one little glimpse of the Virushka’s baby. Virat and Anushka, on the other hand, seem to be embracing parenthood and it’s as cute as it can get. I mean, we all saw that adorable family photo!
Now, new dad, Virat just opened up about fatherhood and missing out on cricket matches and it’s totally melting our hearts. Speaking to a news agency, Virat revealed that the thrill of playing and winning a match cannot be compared to the happiness he experiences upon becoming a father.
“Firstly I don’t think the two (missing matches and having a child) can be compared. Becoming a father has been and will remain the greatest moment in my life, in both our lives. That is something to be experienced to understand what I am saying. Secondly, the connection to the team does not go away in any situation. Especially when you have given everything to the team,” said the Indian skipper.
Virat also revealed an interesting detail about what happened just before he got called to the hospital with Anushka for the delivery of their daughter. “The last Test, I remember when Shardul and Sundar were having a partnership, I was watching it on my phone just before we had to go when the doctor called us so. That is how connected you are to the team and how much you are looking forward to the guys doing well,” said Virat.
Earlier, the India skipper announced his decision to go on paternity leave to be with his wife for the birth of their first child, which caused quite an uproar. Explaining his decision, Virat had said, “I wanted to be back home in time to be with my wife for the birth of our first child and it is a very very special and very very beautiful moment in our lives and something I truly want to experience.”

Virat and Anushka had announced that they are expecting their first child during the lockdown last year with an adorable picture where the access was seen flaunting her baby bump. And that picture really did break the internet. Following the birth of their baby girl, the couple requested the paparazzi to respect their privacy and not click pictures of their newborn. The duo also beefed up the hospital security and banned visitors to ensure the safety of their daughter.
