On Wednesday, residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to surprisingly pleasant weather, cloudy skies and heavy rainfall in a few areas. Monsoon has wreaked havoc in the city of Mumbai, and today heavy rains lashed several parts of the national capital region with Gurugram bearing the brunt of it. The heavy downpour resulted in submerging of low-lying areas in knee-deep water and affecting traffic on a few usually-busy roads.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert at 10:05 am for heavy rains in the capital. According to IMD, thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall are likely to continue in Delhi and the adjoining areas including Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad. Well, those working from home (count me in) were happy about the dip in temperature rains brought. However, continuous rain turned many parts of Gurugram into mini water bodies causing a huge inconvenience to people.
From flooded houses to underpasses, Twitter is full of apocalypse-like scenes from many parts of Gurugram.
Water Clogged Streets & Overflowing Underpasses!
Some of the key roads including the Golf Course Road and Hero Honda Chowk in the millennium city are submerged in water.

Several Questioned The Authorities!
The rainwater gushing on arterial roads with cars submerging is reminiscent of August last year. In 2019, motorists were stranded for hours as heavy showers had flooded the roads connecting Delhi and Gurugram. Civic authories were lambasted for their lack of preparations for the monsoon. Several netizens questioned the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and Gurugram police about the same. Here’s what they wrote on the microblogging site –

The Govt department expected to maintain drain systems have not done their job and unfortunately the @GurgaonTraffic has to go through stress. Can we Ensure that those responsible for drain system are on the roads along with traffic cops ? #gurgaonrains #gurgaon https://t.co/nnhCZoLz0s
