Pro Tips: Here’s How You Should Be Applying Liquid Blush

Are you a sucker for blushes? If you are then you’ve probably already gotten your hands on a liquid blush by now. They are just too cute to pass up on. Just like liquid highlighters, the purpose of liquid blush is to give the most natural finish to your skin. But there’s a catch. If you are blending a liquid blush on your bare skin for a hint of colour then you’re free to apply it however you like. But the moment you try to apply it over foundation, things may get messy if you aren’t using the right techniques. You could end up with patchy looking blush or peeled off base makeup. Who needs that?

We promise liquid blush is a blessing but only if you apply it right. Here are the few and only ways you should be applying liquid blush over makeup to get beautiful results.

Layer Lessons

First and foremost you have to understand how to best layer on your makeup products. All the liquids go on first and powders can be dusted on later. This means that if you have applied foundation already, don’t use your setting powder just yet. Apply your liquid blush first and then use translucent powder wherever necessary.

Warm Up

Many make the mistake of directly dotting drops of liquid blush on the cheeks and then using a brush to blend it out. That is a big mistake. If you do that, you are sure to end up with a streaky look. Instead, put liquid blush drops on the back of your hand and rub the brush over it to pick up the colour. Now, quickly dab the blush over your cheeks and blend as desired. You will get a smooth application that doesn’t disrupt your makeup.

Mix To Match

An easy hack to make your blush look more natural is to mix it up with a bit of your base makeup products. Mixing a drop of foundation with a drop or two of liquid blush on the back of your hand will make the blush tone more suited for your skin tone and will also make it super easy to blend. You can then even use your bare fingers to dab on the customised blush for a gorgeous finish. If you want some shine, you could even add a drop of highlighter in the mixing step to get a stain finish on application.

With these pro tips up your sleeve, applying liquid blush will be a breeze.
