Be it Ram-Leela or Bajirao-Mastani, there’s no Bollywood pair that is more perfect than Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. And there’s no story as epic as the DeepVeer fairytale. So when the two biggest stars of the Indian film industry decided to tie the knot, their wedding had to be the grandest affair in town!
Deepika married Ranveer in an intimate wedding in Lake Como last year in November. It was a glittery affair but was largely shielded from the paparazzi’s gaze. The couple managed to keep their wedding private and invited only close family members. DeepVeer’s fans could only make speculations about when the wedding would take place and who would witness the grand ceremony. No one knew, except this one person who Deepika chose as her close confidante.
The details of the DeepVeer wedding were kept under wraps for a long time. However, in a recent interview, DP was asked who was the first person to know about the Lake Como wedding. And the mystery person was none other the iconic, the ace couturier and every bride-to-be’s dream fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Deepika revealed, “The first person who even knew I was getting married was Sabya. It was about being a Sabya bride, but also about celebrating the parts of India where Ranveer and I came from. I orchestrated the whole wedding. Ranveer was quite busy and there was just so much to be done. Once we had most of the organisation under control, we made a public announcement.”
From her legendary wedding lehenga to her Freida Kahlo reception ensemble, each of the outfits that Sabya detailed for Deepika’s wedding functions redefined tradition attire for all the future brides.
In a recent interaction with a leading daily, Sabyasachi divulged about the planning process of the DeepVeer wedding. He revealed that DP ‘scared’ him while she meticulously planned every detail of her wedding. He said, “She scares me. Deepika scares me because of the fact that I think she is so organised that you know, I pride myself in being organised, but she is so meticulous, organised and so composed about everything that she does that I look like a rookie.”
Sabya also revealed that the wedding was super fun and Ranveer made everyone participate in it: ” With Ranveer, there’s no choice but to have fun. He just makes sure that you participate.”
According to Sabya, Deepika knew everything right from the colour of her outfit, what jewellery she wanted to wear and the South Indian coffee that will be served to the guests, which was procured all the way from South India. He also revealed that he never had that kind of food that was served at the DeepVeer wedding. He further added that it was such a big affair but if one looked at the physical aspect of the wedding, it was small, intimate and very cultured at the same time. Moreover, it had all those people that mattered to the couple and that’s how weddings should be.
DP didn’t just don Sabyasachi on her wedding day but also made appearances post the ceremony in his outfits. And needless to say, Deepika was all shades of elegant and graceful, courtesy Sabyasachi!
