Raksha Bandhan In The Time Of Corona: B-Town Floods Social Media With Some Sibling Love

Raksha Bandhan is one of the most loved and unique festivals in India. On this day, the sister ties a rakhi (symbolic of her love) on her brother’s wrist and the two siblings exchange presents.

Since morning, our social media has been flooded with cutesy pictures of siblings expressing their love and gratitude for each other. Bollywood is no different. Our favourite B-Town stars too took to the ‘Gram to share their favourite sibling moments.

Here’s How Your Favourite B-Town Celebrity Celebrated Raksha Bandhan

Warning: It’s going to be a mush fest from here onwards!

Three’s A Party!

Two hours ago, Parineeti Chopra posted a throwback childhood picture of her and her two brothers, Shivang and Sahaj Chopra. The bubbly actress captioned the picture as, “Throwback to the time when I was taller than them 🙄 Happy Rakhi to the babies-who became giants-but remain my babies.”

Varun Dhawan’s A Superhero!

Varun Dhawan may not be celebrating Raksha Bandhan with his sisters, but he surely is protecting them from afar. Due to the pandemic, the actor is practising social distancing. His IG caption reads as, “#happyrakshabandhan Feels really odd not being able to see all my sisters this year but to love them and protect them means not seeing them…..so be it ❤️ Miss my sisters” (We’re sure his sisters miss him terribly too!)

Shilpa Shetty’s Little Munchkins Are Too Cute To Handle!

Shilpa Shetty shared a visual treat with her Instafam today. The picture gave them a glimpse of her baby girl’s first Raksha Bandhan celebration. Her caption read, “Today and this moment is so special for us all, as Viaan-Raj and Samisha celebrate their first Rakhsha Bandhan. They say, ‘our siblings are our first best friends’, right here is the beginning of a ‘forever’ kinda friendship. Viaan-Raj has always wanted and prayed for a Lil sister – and his dream and ours has come true, making today extra special. I’m glad that they will always have each other to fall back on… someone to love unconditionally, talk to, crib about, yet be fiercely protective Tell your sibling today, how much you love them; and if they’re around you, don’t forget to give them a tight hug! 🤗 Happy Raksha Bandhan to my instafam”

Memories Last Forever

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden dismiss has left a void in each of us. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Sushant’s sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, posted a precious childhood photograph of the two siblings together. She captioned the picture as, “Happy Rakshabandhan mera sweet sa baby… bahut pyaar karte hain hum aapko jaan… aur hamesha karte rahenge… you were, you are and you will always be our PRIDE! ❤️”

When Soul Sisters Exist!

Today, Raksha Bandhan is not just celebrated between brother and sister, two sisters can celebrate this festival as well. As in the case of Malaika and Amrita Arora. Her IG caption reads as, “‘Tum hi ho bandhu, sakha tum hi’. It’s not just a prayer, it’s not just a song…it’s what defines our boundless relation. You are not just my baby sister…u are my best friend when I need one, an elder sister when I feel like being a child again, a sounding board when I feel like venting and a brother so I never miss having one. We are everything to each other and words fall short to describe our eternal bond. Happy Rakshabandhan to you! Here’s to the multiple roles you play in my life…a sister, a brother, a friend and many more. Whether it’s the sisterhood of undying support or bro code to protect each other fiercely…we have it all. The best of both worlds in one package, that’s how I’d like to describe you. It can be the entire world against us and I’ll still be confident of winning with you by my side. You are a sister who always has my back and a brother who’ll protect me at any cost. This Rakshabandhan I’d like to thank you for playing multiple roles in my life- a sister, a brother, a friend and many more.”

I’ve always loved this special festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. I feel so blessed to have these wonderful, sensitive, supportive men in my corner always. I miss you all so much. Sending lots of love and hugs and oh also…as part of the tradition… waiting for my gifts 😋”

Sisters Who Support Each Other

Ain’t no cuter sibling video on the internet than this one that Kiara Advani recently posted. It shows Kiara doing the boogie, while her baby sister adorably watching her slay those moves! She even put a funny caption along with the video which reads as, “Dear @mishaaladvani , I can see you’ve been my fan from the time you were in diapers. You’ve been a loyal audience, sometimes annoying but always supportive.. you’ve always been my favourite pain in the back….. PS- I didn’t drop you in the video and I never will, here’s a promise to entertain you for life”

Hugs & Giggles All The Way

Here’s a gif of Sanjay Kapoor with his beautiful sisters, Priya and Namrata. From One Generation To The Other

This list would not be complete without mentioning the Bachchans. Take it away, Big B! “and tomorrow be the festival of protection and security for the sister by the brother .. a pledge to be by her side, to hold her hand in times of trouble, to safeguard her from all evil that may erupt about and to let her know that no matter what he shall ever be by her side. Raksha Bandhan: ‘raksha’ to protect ; ‘bandhan’ to tie to bond to hold together. Our ‘samaaj’ does possess centuries-old traditions that make us all valuable .. in the essence of behavioural convictions .. such convictions that can never be betrayed or dissolved .. they are the crafted genius of writings on stone. forever.”

Which of these Raksha Bandhan pictures melted your heart? We bet that ALL of ’em did!
