From bespoke wedding favours to bride’s who design their own outfits, we at POPxo are absolute suckers for personalised wedding details. After all, gone are the days of the one size fits all weddings and it is these personalised details that give a wedding its very own individualistic touch. And while bespoke outfits and decor details might have their own charm, we stan a bride who goes the extra mile every once in a while and we just stumbled upon one.
Gargi Ruparel recently tied the knot with the love of her life Shronit Ladhani and took the idea of personalisation to next level by getting her own wedding song and singing it herself. Now to say that we are impressed would really be an understatement and here’s everything that we are loving about this bindass bride.
A quick scroll through her Instagram feed and it’s easy to tell that Gargi has a certain penchant for singing. That said, a lot more went into the song and its evolution. Vishal Punjabi of The Wedding Filmer shares the inspiration behind the song: “Kareebi Teri was first composed by Joel Mukherjii, inspired by Lag Ja Gale, a song @virat.kohli sang to @anushkasharma at his wedding. Soon after, @theshoebox and @arno1dpa1mer helped recreate the melody as a contemporary Indian love song inspired by “The Nearness of You” by @norahjones which she performed live at her wedding. When Gorgeous Gargi, accompanied by her sister, Marvellous Margi said she wanted to sing for her wedding film, this is what transpired as the soundtrack.”
Rest assured, Gargi has done absolute justice to ‘Kareebi Teri’ with her powerful voice so much so that the listeners feel an instant connection with its cascading notes. In all honesty, this is the kind of personalisation that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I mean, not all of us have been blessed with Gargi’s musical gift, right?
Quite commendably, Gargi managed to do as impressively in the outfit department as she did in the personalisation one. She opted for a lemon and blush pink Anushree Reddy lehenga featuring floral motifs and cutdana and zardozi handwork. On our fashion radar is that ombre dupatta and its trademark scalloped edging. Pure love!
Gargi chose to stick with the basics in the jewel department and completed the look with a choker, rain haar, nath, mathapatti and maangtikka.
There are so many ways to describe Gargi’s flawless makeup but let’s lead with this: it was celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni who worked her magic on the bride! She gave Gargi a nice glass base and finished the look with kohl-rimmed eyes and an understated yet statement nude lippie. Here’s how you can recreate the look.
Well, this bride surely knows how to make a statement!
