The Supreme Court Refuses To Legalise Same-Sex Marriage & We’re Back To Fighting For Basic Rights

The long-awaited decision of the highest judicial court declared that it cannot legalize same-sex marriages, stating that it’s an issue for the Parliament to decide. The court also issued a 3:2 ruling against adoption rights being granted to unmarried and queer persons.

While Chief Justice Of India, DY Chandrachud and Justice SK Kaul agreed that unmarried couples, including queer couples, can adopt a child, the other three justices disagreed.

This has taken India back to square one in terms of where it stands as far as basic human rights are concerned. The fight continues.

I know that same-sex marriage did not destroy cultural fabric in any of the countries where it's allowed. How can right to marry extended to small group of LGBT people (around 4% of population) destroy culture? It simply can't.

What I understood is that union is possible for same sex couples but won’t be called marriage. For marriage to happen the spouses have to be a man.& woman w .SC refuses to legalize same sex Marriage but allows unmarried couples to adopt a child !!what are they high on???
