1. Safe House – Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Founded in 1966, way before theme restaurants were even a thing, Safe House looks simple and non-threatening from the outside. But on the inside, it is a spy-themed restaurant that has been a backdrop for movies and has various spy memorabilia added to the interiors.

2. Modern Toilet – Taipei City, Taiwan Province, China

At the insanely successful Modern Toilet restaurant, you sit on a commode to eat and everything is served in a tiny shit pot. It also has poop-themed food, in case you were wondering if it could get any grosser. 

3. Cabbages and Condoms – Bangkok, Thailand

Meant to promote safe sex, this strange restaurant has mannequins dressed in condoms (clothes made out of condoms) and condoms hanging from the ceiling. The food, however, is quite normal and actually good. Thank god!

4. Ninja New York – New York

This one actually sounds exciting! A New York based restaurant, Ninja New York has Ninjas serving you food in a unique and thrilling style. They jump out of nowhere and even perform some martial art tricks for their guests while serving them sushi!

5. New Lucky Restaurant – Ahmedabad, India

This tiny but insanely popular restaurant in Ahmedabad is built on a cemetery and has been around for over 50 years. The owner, Krishnan Kutti chose not to remove the graves from the site and instead placed the restaurant tables around them. He believes that the graveyard brings him good luck.

Dressed as nurses and doctors, the servers bring you food that is high in fat, sugar and carbs and is absolutely terrible for your health. This fast-food restaurant’s satirical take on the hamburgers that it is famous for, is absolutely hilarious.

7. Dinner In The Sky – 44 Countries

This Belgian based novelty restaurant service uses a crane to hoist you 150 feet into the air for an unforgettable dining experience. Like on a roller coaster, you’re strapped on to your seats and even the waiters walk around strapped for their lives. Available in over 44 countries, all you have to do is book a table on their website and they’ll do the rest. 

8. Dialogue In The Dark – Hyderabad / Chennai, India

Weird only because of the theme, which involves guests reaching their tables in the dark and then eating their food in pitch-darkness. People who’ve visited the place rave about the food and the fact that they were not able to even see their hands. The staff here is visually impaired and know their way in and out perfectly. The theme is an initiative to drive jobs for the specially abled and sensitise people on the abilities of the blind.
