Birthdays are all about having fun with your friends and family. However, if you are a Bollywood star it might not be such a happy occasion. Even on their birthdays, they aren’t spared the horrors of a troll attack. Recently, Sonam Kapoor got called out for her birthday post for what was on the menu.
Sonam shared a bunch of pictures from her birthday celebration with a sweet note for her close ones. She wrote, “My two beautiful boys, friends, cake, champagne, oysters, caviar and the perfect summer day! What more can a girl in red dress ask for her birthday. This looks like a perfectly adorable setup but trolls had a problem with this as well. A Reddit thread pointed out that Sonam has time and again pointed out she was a vegetarian for several years before she adopted veganism. But for her birthday it was all about ‘oysters’ and ‘caviar’.
A Reddit user commented, “Hadn’t millionaire Mrs Kapoor admitted to turning vegetarian after prem ratan and Neerja (on KWK when she appeared with Kareena)?? May be Caviar and Oyster guests ke liye tha.” Another one shared, “That’s like vegetarian for name only right?” Scroll down for the comments:
Honestly, if you are planning a birthday party don’t you get things for your guests? Perhaps that’s what Sonam did. So, why bash her for simply being a gracious host?
When Sonam Spoke About Her Vegan Lifestyle
In a 2016 interview, Sonam spoke about her dietary preference. The Neerja star said, “I am not saying it is good or not good to be a vegetarian. To each his or her own. In my own home, my mother is a strict vegetarian and always has been. And I’ve taken after her, I guess. But my dad is not a vegetarian. But he only eats white meat. So, I guess everyone has his or her own dietary rhythm to follow. We can’t make hard and fast rules about it.”
Dear trolls, why not let a woman simply be happy about her birthday? Just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean they should be subjected to unnecessary scrutiny.
