Last week, Shilpa Shetty left everyone wondering after sharing that she is quitting social media. She made the announcement through an Instagram post and wrote “Soooo bored of the monotony, everything looking the same… going off social media till I find a new avatar.” We had a hunch that something interesting was brewing the instant we came across the post and well, here comes our “we told you so” moment.
Turns out, Shilpa has signed up for an interesting big screen role after more than a decade and her confusing Instagram post was just to fuel the anticipation. Yesterday, the actress took to social media after days and revealed her look for the upcoming film, Nikamma. We are happy to report that it looks rather promising.
The official trailer of the film is out now and Shilpa has been introduced as a mix of ‘Thunder Woman and Manjulika.’ Well, weird flex but we are defs looking forward to it. Abhimanyu Dasani will play the lead character in the film and Shilpa plays a mother figure-meets-superheroine, named Avni, who’ll help him rise as the hero.
Well, it is Shilpa’s version of an Indianised superheroine that we look forward to. She already looks kickass in the trailer and is already channelling the superwoman energy during promotions. Earlier today, she was spotted during the film promotion in a super man-inspired red-blue outfit. Shilpa wore a fusion saree in admiral blue and paired it with a corset-inspired off-shoulder blouse in red, and a mustard trench. She finished off the look with statement gold cuffs. Oh my, my, we are sold!
Here, take a look:
Shilpa spoke about her upcoming film in an interaction with a popular daily and shared, “It’s the first film I said yes to after my sabbatical, and I was convinced by Sabbir’s grasp on the craft and the unusual and exciting part he had to offer. Avni has been one of my most challenging roles yet, but also a part I enjoyed playing to the hilt. Can’t wait for people to enjoy Nikamma in the theatres.”
Well, it has been quite some time since we saw Shilpa Shetty take up a meaty, big-screen role. We are expecting nothing less than a grand comeback. Nikamma is all set to hit the theatres on June 17 and we look forward to it.
