We Want An Indian Version Of Sex Education & These Desi Actors Will Be The Perfect Cast!

We just finished watching Sex Education 3 on Netflix and there is just so much to say! By far, this is the most satisfying season of the show, which has given us epic character arcs—some of which we didn’t see coming. The plot is equally engrossing and we just cannot wait to watch what happens next. There are so many stories hanging in the air and so many characters waiting to receive what they truly deserve. The anticipation is soaring and we are currently dealing with a nail-biting situation here with no official word on a season 4.

It is apparent that Sex Education is made with due consideration and love. For instance, it is one of those series with a hoard of characters and yet you don’t feel lost even for a moment. They are just that perfectly penned out and watching the show is like being on multiple journeys simultaneously with each one of these characters. It is an exhilarating experience, and we can certainly do with an Indian adaptation of the show. In fact, we might have curated a list of Indian actors who’ll fit perfectly into the roles. Well, just in case someone is thinking of making an Indian version of Sex Education, read on ‘coz this list might come in handy:

Rohit Saraf As Otis Milburn

Instagram

Otis Milburn is soft, sensitive, and quite mature for his age. He has been told at a number of points in the show that he is, in fact, like an old man in the body of a schoolboy. However, it’s Otis’s confusion and fear of confrontation that happens to be his hamartia. It is like he can give sound advice to others but rarely takes good calls for himself. To play him, we need an actor who can effortlessly merge both sides of his personality and we feel that Rohit Saraf would be a great fit. From Ludo to Mismatched, Rohit has consistently wowed us with the vulnerable side of his personality and would surely ace it as Otis Milburn.

Sobhita Dhulipala As Jean Milburn

Instagram

Suave and fearless, Jean Milburn is easily our most favourite character from the show. We love her devil may care attitude and are sure that it will take a rather badass woman to re-create her role. Also, there is no missing out on the style quotient because it really doesn’t get any more fashionable than Jean and her love for jewel-hued separates. Our bet is that Sobhita Dhulipala will do wonderfully well in the role!

Charlie Chauhan As Maeva Wiley

Instagram

Maeve is a character with multiple layers. She is strong and yet so soft. She isn’t a rebel out of choice but out of necessity. Maeve has seen the cruel, unforgiving side of life and knows that it accommodates no space for weakness. Thus, with ‘trust no one’ as her motto, the girl has been busy making a life for herself and looks like she has succeeded as well. Sadly, she still remains wildly understood and Charlie Chauhan is someone who can be trusted in bringing out all the nuances of her character.

Parul Gulati As Ruby Matthews

Instagram

From being all cliquey and snobbish initially to showing extreme character development in season 3, Ruby has come a long way. Many feel that she has emerged as the surprise star this season. After showing such an impressive character arc, Ruby surely didn’t deserve to get her heartbroken. However, we are also hella impressed with the kind of dignity and strength that she has shown and think that Parul Gulati can play her role really well.

Sushant Divgikr As Eric Effiong

Instagram

Eric Effiong is unabashedly himself and, of course, a total diva. For this role, we’d need someone who loves all things flamboyant. Having seen Sushant Sushant Divgikr in the Bigg Boss house, we think there isn’t a single performer in the country who’d be able to do it better than him.

Priyank Sharma As Adam Groff

Instagram

Adam Groff is a complex character. Most of us have literally gone from hating him in season one to feeling for him in the latest season. As someone coming from a dysfunctional family, Adam has seen a lot in life and all of it has left an imprint on him. Rest assured, the tough exterior that he has been putting up all this while is a total facade and what he yearns for is true connection and just someone who can understand his chaos. Something tells us that Priyank Sharma would do absolute justice to the role.

Bani J As Ola Nyman

Instagram

Ola Nyman has a cool air about her. You look at her and you know she has got substance. Also, guarded as Ola might be, she is also immensely kind and mature. Bani J strikes us as the perfect name to play Ola in an Indian adaptation of Sex Education

Veeba Anand As Lily Iglehart

Instagram

It is Lily’s eccentricities and wild imagination that set her apart from the rest. She has a rich inner world and is actually willing to share it with the world. Unfortunately, what might be a part of her charm also isolates her from others. She is different and Veebha Anand strikes us as someone who can very well portray Lily in all her glory.

Mohsin Khan As Jackson Marchetti

Instagram

With a tanked swimming career, Jackson Marchetti is still lost. However, the struggle has somehow made him more understanding and calmer. He is more cognizant of other people and their feeling’s now as he tries making peace with the turmoil within. That said, he remains an absolute charmer and Mohsin Khan would perfectly fit in his shoes.

Durga Gawde As Cal

Instagram

Netflix cast a non-binary actor to play Cal and it is only fair that we do too. Now while our industry isn’t too open to NB talent, we think that it is high time we become more inclusive in our approach. Incredibly talented Durga Gawde will be a great fit for the role. They are India’s very first drag king, quite a performer, and will surely bring a lot of life to the character.
