Ira Khan was the first celebrity bride to tie the knot this wedding season and to say her wedding was the talk of the town would be an understatement. From her husband Nupur showing up for their wedding in his gym attire to them walking down the aisle and getting hitched in a Christian ceremony, the duo has broken multiple wedding stereotypes already.
But as my life and work revolve around beauty, I was more intrigued by Ira Khan’s hair. While most brides prefer to go back to their natural hair shade and enhance it with highlights, Ira preferred to stick to her burgundy red shade – a bridal look not many can pull off. But she isn’t the only real-life bride to pull off an unconventional look for her big day!
Violet Dreams
Considering I thought Ira Khan’s hair colour was bold for her big day, you best believe I was surprised when I stumbled upon a bride with pastel hair. Her choppy bob featured a range of blue shades while her partner’s dreadlocks were dyed into rainbow colours! And it’s safe to say, both their looks were styled to perfection but still held unique to themselves and the vibe they were going for.
A Frida-Inspired ‘Do
You know how you relate to or admire a person so much, you aim to look like them? This bride took her love for Frida to the next level by opting for a vibrant flower crown that matched her outfit. A classic gold and red kanjivaram silk saree and classic gold eyeshadow round up this bride’s classic Indian look with a twist.
But she wasn’t the only one who manifested her Frida look to reality for her wedding day. You might recall Deepika Padukone also recreating a gothic version of Frida’s look with a Sabyasachi lehenga for one of her wedding ceremonies.
From The Twilight Zone
We all had a goth phase as teenagers where we made the colour black our entire personality. But for some, the gothic style isn’t a phase, it’s a way of life. Case in point, this bride who embodied everything goth through her bridal look. From black lipstick to shimmery purple eyeshadow, and platinum-blonde curls, she looked straight out of a music video!
The On-Trend ‘Do
You ever loved a hair trend so much you needed to recreate it on your wedding day? This bride’s hairdo was all about the bubble hair trend, tied together with pearl embellishments to match her outfit and add a touch of glamm. And it made for a bold yet unique bridal hairdo, if I do say so myself!
Hair ties and ropes were also a major trend at one point with even celebrities attesting for them. So you best believe brides who were looking for that added edge hopped onto the bandwagon for their big day.
This only goes to show that there’s so much more to bridal looks than the same old voluminous waves and minimal glamm. The best things (and looks) happen when you step out of your comfort zone and carry it with confidence!
