Can’t Keep Calm! PC Has Joined Victoria’s Secret & The Details Will Make You Super Excited

We have said this before and we are saying this again–2021 is the year that Priyanka Chopra conquers the damn world! After publishing a New York Times bestseller and starting a critically-acclaimed restaurant, the Quantico actress has now joined Victoria’s Secret. Yes fam, this is major!!! The lingerie brand just signed her up and a diverse group of six other influential women as their founding members.

Victoria’s Secret welcomed the new founding members on their Instagram page and wrote “We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective, designed to shape the future of Victoria’s Secret. These extraordinary partners, with their unique backgrounds, interests and passions will collaborate with us to create revolutionary product collections, compelling and inspiring content, new internal associate programs and rally support for causes vital to women.”

With this move, the brand is headed towards a revamp and officially throws a curtain on its “angels” and the barbie bodies era. As part of their inclusivity drive, everything that was earlier associated with Victoria’s Secret (read, rhinestones, feathers, and fantasy bras) is up for a makeover. After much criticism in the past, the brand has finally involved women who are known for way more than their body shapes and sizes and we are excited about what lies ahead.

“I am most excited for new customers, and for those who have always been a customer of Victoria’s Secret, to feel represented and like they belong,” shared Priyanka commenting on the development.

Apart from Priyanka, the impressive lineup of Victoria’s Secret’s new founding members include Adut Akech (refugee, mental wellness supporter, model), Amanda De Cadenet (journalist, photographer, Girlgazr founder, equality advocate), Eileen Gu (world champion freeskier, youth and women’s support advocate, model), Megan Rapinoe (LGBTQIA+ activist, pay equity crusader, professional soccer player), Paloma Elsesser (Body advocate, community creator, model), and Valentia Sampaio (LGBTQIA+ activist, actor, model).

Together, these women are all set to spearhead what appears as one of the most sincere attempts at a brand turnaround in recent history. We are hoping to see bigger, bolder conversations and definitely a retake at the brand’s definition of “sexy,” and the idea of the ‘perfect’ body as projected by them in the past 25 years or so. In a world that is still relying on tokenism in the name of inclusivity, it would be interesting to see how it unfolds for Victoria’s Secret and its new founding members. Here’s to better and more inclusive times ahead!
