Priyanka Chopra has wowed us with her exceptional acting skills and killer confidence over the course of her two-decade career. But, as they say, being a celebrity has its pros and cons. Despite her success in films, the actress was unable to escape the gossip mills. She was often linked up with her co-stars, and while PC never admitted to being in a relationship at the time, she has now finally spoken up.
The actress was rumoured to have dated Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Shahid Kapoor. Now after being happily married and the mother of a beautiful baby girl, she spilled all the beans about her dating history in a podcast interview.
She revealed, “I went from relationship to relationship to relationship. I did not give myself time at all between relationships, till my last one. I always ended up dating the actors that I worked with or the people that I met on my set. I just thought I had an idea of what a relationship should be like, and I kept seeking that and trying to fit the people that came into my life into my idea of that relationship.”
PC also stated that before she met her husband, Nick Jonas, she wanted to be single for a while as she felt like her love life had started affecting her work. She said, “I needed to be the caretaker, always feeling like it was okay to cancel my job, my work, my meeting, or my priority to make sure that he was propped up. It was so normalised in my brain for so long that I ended up giving the power away in such a skewed way that I never stood up for myself.”
The actress also opened up about how her previous relationships made her feel “like a doormat” and she felt like as a woman her role was to “glue the family together” or “make your man feel comfortable when he comes back home.” But Nick changed her perception about love and relationships altogether and showed her how easy and supportive love can be. Adorbs, right?
Priyanka Chopra has been one of the most dedicated and talented actors in Bollywood. She has made a name for herself all over the world, and only she knows the extent of her difficulties. But we applaud her for never giving up and staying strong. After all, she did eventually get her happily ever after!
