It almost seems impossible to believe that it has been 20 years since The Powerpuff Girls first took on the mantle of saving the world before bedtime. The three sisters juggled school and superhero duties to keep the people of Townsville safe and flew straight into our hearts while doing so.
The Powerpuff Girls stood for everything good in the world. Sugar, spice and everything nice may seem like a fairly simple recipe, but Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup had an ‘X’ factor. Since most of us were either kindergartener ourselves when the three sisters first appear on our TV sets, we grew up with them. They were, in essence, a personification of our dreams and ambitions of trying to fix the wrongs of the world.

At the same time, they were relatable because they had the same problems we did – finishing homework, eating our greens or making our beds. Focused and calculated in her reasoning, Blossoms inspired the leader in us, always ready to do the right thing. Everyone wanted to be as carefree and happy as Blossoms, looking for the happier things in life. Buttercup was our sceptical side, prodding and probing everything and being cautious.The show became a worldwide phenomenon and their legacy was such that they continue to influence the wider spectrum of pop culture even today after two decades.
