The Best & Worst Looks From Day 2 Of The NMACC Gala
The NMACC Gala is proving to be one of the grandest cultural events in the world! Day one was lit and day two looked even better. For the costume exhibition, the theme was “India In Fashion” to shed light on the country’s rich sartorial influence on global fashion. The Bollywood and Hollywood A-listers turned on the glamm (and lots of drama). Scroll down for the best and the worst looks from the evening:
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena never misses and that’s a fact. She slayed in a gorgeous Shahab Durazi haute couture gown! I love that she embraced some minimalism for an evening when everyone went OTT. That’s one way to stand apart!
Hold your breath ‘coz Gigi has blessed us with her first saree look ever and what a slay! The gold-white Abu Jani chikankari saree paired with that opulent gold blouse is a look. The styling is top-notch as well and I love how well Gigi is carrying her gold bangles. Honestly, she should wear sarees more often!
A shoutout to Kriti for dressing up in a Banarasi gown and embracing Indian handloom! This is one of her best looks to date. The gorgeous gown has been designed by Monisha Jaising and it fits the Heropanti actress perfectly. I love the risque thigh-high slit and that oversized coat. Stunning!
Shloka’s gorgeous chikankari lehenga is by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. But the highlight of the outfit is how she draped a vintage shawl as a blouse. Mom-to-be is simply glowing!
The actress stunned in a metallic outfit by Anamika Khanna and gave MET Gala feels. I am obsessed with how OTT the whole look is. It is giving fashion costume vibes and I am here for it!
Ambani’s love for Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla is well known. It looks like their bahu-to-be Radhika has taken notes. Dressed in a stunning saree by the designer duo, Radhika is looking graceful and elegant.
Pink becomes her! Anusha looked flawless in her fish-cut lehenga and dramatic blouse. Her cape sleeves were to die for. Extra points for her sleek, pulled-back hair!
Zendaya in saree was a moment that is going to live in my head rent-free. No one knows how to do a fashion serve better than the Euphoria star and her saree look is proof. Rahul Mishra just showed us how to dress a non-desi in a saree. It is pre-draped and comes with a stunning trail. The gold leaf blouse brilliantly contrasts with the drape. This look is plain fire!
Can you ever go wrong with a classic black tuxedo? If you are still wondering, Tom Holland look is the answer you seek! The Spiderman star kept his look clean and I am living for it.
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan’s look is regal AF. I love the clean cuts and stunning embroidery on this Manish Malhotra set. This is a fail-proof look!
Usually, Karan’s OTT style is my favourite but this time I am not on board. The ill-fitted long sherwani is not doing him any favour and what’s up with the sunglasses?
Have you heard the phrase too much of a good thing? That’s exactly what happened to Malaika Arora’s attire for the evening. The clashing pattern, the confusing silhouette, and all that bling are simply not working for her. The only thing looks good is her makeup!
It almost breaks my heart to put Sonam Kapoor in the fashion misses of the evening. Unfortunately, it is the fitting of her outfit that went against the actress. Yes, her panelled skirt is a work of art and the craftsmanship is top notch but it looks too bulky as a skirt.
Shanaya’s look is too underwhelming and all over the place. This won’t pass off as a stylish look in any situation whatsoever!
Another fashionista that missed the mark this time is Alia Bhatt. Her choker-like detail attached to her cape is simply not it. Also, the pattern on the bust is just too busy to make an impact.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
I am honestly gutted to put Priyanka Chopra on this list ‘coz she hardly misses. But this time her blingy blouse has killed her look and not in a good way. This honestly looks like something that someone who has no clue about Indian wear will go for.
Well, this was one fashion-packed evening, right?
