With the novel coronavirus and other natural calamities, 2020 is turning out to be the worst year ever for most of us. While we’re doing all that we can to heal mother nature, the virus still seems to be a neverending issue. However, there is light at the end of every tunnel and Russia’s latest announcement about the development of a new vaccine has given everyone hope.
President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has developed the world’s first vaccine against COVID19 which is known to work quite effectively and forms immunity against this deadly virus. He also revealed that one of his daughters who tested positive has already been vaccinated. The registration of this vaccine for mass inoculation involves a lot of clinical trials that are still going on. As per reports, Russia has decided to call the vaccine, “Sputnik V”. This name is in reference to the world’s first satellite launch by the Soviet Union in 1957. The vaccine has two components that are separately-injected and are expected to build immunity against this virus. The clinical trials kicked off on June 18 and had about 38 volunteers. Once this vaccine is successful in Russia, it will appear in circulation for the rest of the world starting January 1st 2021.
The world, however, is not sure about this until they do a series of clinical trial themselves. The head of AIIMS, Dr Randeep Guleria said that India needs to test the safety and the effectiveness of the vaccine before putting it out for the people.
While the world had their doubts, Netizens were quick to jump in on Twitter with hilarious posts and comments. Here are some of the best tweets!

While this development paves the way for a better and safer lifestyle for many, we sincerely hope that this is it. Every nation has been trying their very best to come up with a vaccine for this deadly virus that has gripped the entire world. While hundreds of people have lost their lives, millions are tested positive every single day. This is a battle that we all have to fight together. Let’s hope this works out.
