NARS is a brand I’ve always admired from afar since it wasn’t available in India until only recently. So when I chanced upon a small store on one of my travels, I took my time to try, test, and finally purchase the NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipstick in the shade Idolised.

What Is It?

Described as a product where “colour meets care”, this hybrid formula promises to deliver a high shine and a rich pigment with every swipe. The lightweight product claims to nourish the lips thanks to the presence of shea butter and mango butter, and glide on the lips without making them feel sticky or heavy in any way. The coverage promised is sheer to medium and is easily buildable.

Our Thoughts

Not gonna lie; my first two choices were the two coveted shades – Orgasm and Dolce Vita, but the former acted as just a balm on my pigmented lips, and the latter looked like a basic tint. The Idolised, on the other hand, though described as a brick red shade, seemed to deliver a coral payoff on my lips despite having a reddish touch on my hands.

My favourite thing about this product is that it feels almost as luxurious as it looks. And one single swipe on the lips is all you need because the payoff is excellent. The coral shade suits my medium skin tone well, and the product is very hydrating, leaving the lips nourished and soft, almost like a balm. My lips are almost always dry, and I love that this product doesn’t settle into the creases or enhance them further. Since this a glossy product, it’s a given that it’ll fade quickly, but I didn’t expect it to leave a slight stain after fading away, which is enough to cover up my pigmented lips.

What It Looks Like

Good To Know
Extremely hydrating: Contains shea butter and mango butter.
Hybrid lip product: Colour meets care - extremely buildable lustrous colour with a balm-like feeling.

In Conclusion

I've tried to think about what I don't like about this product multiple times, but nothing ever comes up. I don't mind reapplying this product every few hours because most products require a touch-up anyway. But I loved it so much that I returned and repurchased the same shade a few days later, just in case it ran out before launching in the country!
