Clean Girl Lip Colour: MAC’s Powder Kiss Velvet Blur Slim Stick Is My Go-To

The Powder Kiss Velvet Blur is a level-up from the regular powder kiss lip colour. It comes in a longer tube, promises to hydrate and stays true to the brand. And the colour I’ve been finding excuses to use ever since I purchased it, is Stay Curious.

What Is It

The lipstick delivers up to 12 hours of hydration to the lips. The formula is practically weightless, despite delivering a vibrant colour in a single swipe. It is also free of parabens and sulphates, it is designed for all-day wear without bleeding, feathering, flaking, or fading. The packaging is sleek and requires hardly any place in a handbag.

Our Thoughts

I’m a medium skin tone and finding the perfect shade of nude for my lips has always been a struggle. Browns are too dark and pinks are too light. Stay Curious, a deep pinkish shade with a hint of coral, is the perfect match.

What I like the most about this lipstick is that it doesn’t dry out my lips. Despite it being a matte lipstick, it’s extremely hydrating. I also love that it doesn’t settle into the creases of my lips, rather it makes my lips look smooth even if they happen to be chapped. A single swipe delivers excellent payoff and stays put for hours together. I’ve only needed to retouch my lips after biting into a burger.

It feels like second skin despite having a matte finish. It’s not chalky and doesn’t flake or bleed out either. Like it’s name suggests, it delivers a blurred, velvety effect to the lips that can easily pass off as natural and over-done. It’s not trying too hard and I think this is what caters to the ‘Clean Girl’ aesthetic so well.

How To Use It

I like to first go in with a lip balm and then apply the lipstick all over for a more even look. I also like to dab it on my cheeks for a monochromatic look.
