As much as I love my boyfriend, finding the perfect present for him on Valentine’s Day stresses the daylights out of me! I constantly worry about whether he’d like and use it or whether it would end up as one of those things he’d keep locked up in his closet forever…
I mean I had gifted Ravi plenty of gifts in the past and to be honest, I’ve never seen or heard him say anything about them. All he did was accept them with a smile and *poof*! I’d never see or hear of them again – this got me worried. There were days when I was so tempted to ask him what he thought of them, but the little voice in my head kept stopping me.
This year, I was determined to get him the best gift EVER! I decided to ask my classmate, Abhishek, for help. Whether I needed help in decoding my boyfriend’s text messages to figuring out what guys like as gifts, Abhishek was hands down the best go-to guy!
Anyway, when 14th February arrived, I was so caught up with college assignments that I totally forgot that it was Valentine’s Day! It was only after my boyfriend called me up to wish me and make a plan for the afternoon that I realized I’d absolutely forgotten to get him a present. I don’t know what got into me, but I told him that I’d think about it and let him know and cut the phone out of nervousness.
Since there was no way I’d go empty handed to meet him, I convinced Abhishek to bunk class with me and search for the perfect gift. The two of us got into a cab and drove off to a nearby mall. It took longer than expected. Every time my boyfriend called, I would make an excuse saying that I was in class and cut the phone. Growing obviously suspicious, he kept calling and texting – I switched my phone off after some time.
I put poor Abhishek in a soup too. The problem with my boyfriend is that he has everything! Shoes, clothes, bags, ties, books, games, you name it, it’s in his closet. Just when we were about to give up, I realized that his favourite perfume was almost getting over. Makes sense to only buy him more of it Don’t ask me how I know his scent. *blush*
Anyway, we ended up getting that perfume and just as we were getting out of the store, we bumped into my boyfriend. All three of us stood there in shock! While I asked him what he was doing here, he couldn’t stop asking who was the guy with me. It was only after Abhishek spoke up and cleared the air about he being just a friend of mine did he calm down.
We later got to know that he was shopping for a present for me too! All three us laughed it off and decided to grab coffee and leave after that. While Abhishek headed back to college, my boyfriend invited me over to watch a movie at his place.
As soon as I opened his room, I was surprised to see all the gifts that I had given him in the past, all proudly displayed on his shelves. He may not have mentioned them to me, but after seeing them I was sure that he surely cherished them. We cuddled all through the movie and it turned out to be one of the most memorable Valentine’s Day ever!
