That moment when your project becomes so big that the richest man in the country has to co-produce it. Yes, Aamir Khan is having one of those moments! According to mid-day reports, the Reliance boss Mukesh Ambani will be co-producing Aamir Khan’s most ambitious film yet, the Mahabharata series. Ambani recently invested in entertainment companies Eros and Balaji.
It is still unknown if it would be Ambani’s full-fledged foray into film production with a separate company or his existing media entities, Jio and Viacom 18. But it has already been marked as a “one-off” engagement.
Aamir’s Mahabharata franchise is imagined along the lines of Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Games Of Thrones. The project has already created a buzz in the country and rumour has it that it has a budget of Rs. 1,000 crore, which is impossible to ascertain. It might come in three-five parts and it will involve multiple directors. It’s still at the pre-production stage. International writers are expected to be brought in to sharpen the storyline so it can appeal to the global audience.
