Love Finds A Way: Man Undergoing COVID-19 Treatment Gets Married In Hospital

They say love triumphs all, and then we come across some stories that make us believe in the saying. With the spread of the novel coronavirus across the world, several couples had to postpone their wedding. But there are some who defied all odds and got married. Meet Carlos Muniz and his bride Grace Leimann, a couple from Texas who got married in a hospital where the groom was being treated for COVID-19.

On August 11, they had a beautiful wedding ceremony at San Antonio’s Methodist Hospital with a few family members in attendance and it was magical.

The 41-year-old Carlos was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few days before their wedding day. He was admitted to Methodist Hospital after which his health started to deteriorate, and they had to put their wedding plans on hold. While Grace and their families were hoping that things would get better, the groom-to-be found himself in the ICU and was put on life support.

While he fought for his life, the nurse treating him learned about his impending wedding and offered him a chance to get married at the hospital itself. Carlos and Grace agreed to it and a ceremony was organised in the hospital premises.

On the wedding day, Carlos was dressed in a tuxedo shirt while Grace wore the dress that she had chosen for their special day. Carlos, who was on life support, was escorted down the aisle by his nurse, while his bride waited for him. The groom’s father officiated the ceremony while their friends and the extended families joined the ceremony virtually.

Calling it important, the nurse said that it was a special day for everyone at the hospital too. Talking to a media portal, she said, “This wedding is really important for us as the care team of this patient. We’ve seen some victories, but we’ve had our losses. It was very special for us to be a part of and has been a big motivator for this team. It shows COVID-19 really can’t stop love”. Well, we agree.

And the best news now is that Carlos is doing better. He has tested negative for the novel coronavirus and even though he has to stay in the hospital for recovery, he is able to breathe without the help of life support. In a statement, the nurse said, “Carlos is capable of doing more now than before. He’s fighting for something”.
